Jim Bowden: Sox top 5 likeliest to sign judge

This is truly the funniest thing I've ever read, I laughed so hard my wife asked if I was ok 2 floors from me:

5. White Sox

Owner: Jerry Reinsdorf
President: Ken Williams GM: Rick Hahn

I will never count out Reinsdorf from making a big splash with any of his teams at any time. The White Sox are expected to let first baseman José Abreu walk in free agency, and plan to move Andrew Vaughn to first base and open the designated hitter spot at least part of the time for Eloy Jiménez. They do have top prospect Oscar Colas, who profiles as their future right fielder, on the way, but he could move to left field to make room for Judge. The White Sox will need to improve their defense and replace Abreu’s offense, and they could use Judge’s leadership by example and work ethic in their clubhouse.

In 1996, 26 years ago, Reinsdorf made perhaps his biggest free-agent splash when he signed Albert Belle to what was then the richest contract in baseball history, a five-year, $55 million deal. Can history repeat itself and the White Sox shock the baseball world by inking Judge? I doubt it, and there are hints they won’t be in on top free agents. But I would never bet against the White Sox owner if he decides he wants to go down this lane.

I can't believe this guy was a GM. Life is so unfair.

Was Jim Bowden worse as a GM or as a baseball commentator?

I don't think Bowden realizes we have never, ever, given out a contract above $100 million. Bowden has to be living in 1996 or something. That was when the Sox made their last big FA splash with Albert Belle. And JR only did that because he wanted to get back at other owners.

The albert belle contract had to have happened as Bowden asked his future wife to prom and then walked down the aisle for graduation and first heard the beatles all at once. No other reason this should be this powerful in his mind 26 years later.

??????????

I'd love to be able to be paid to be that stoned.

Hes now on a fantasy football radio show on Sirius XM and hes horrible. I don't think he can even manage that team.

That's embarrassing The Athletic pays him to write these words.

How could one be so delusional?

LOLZ

It's amazing how out of touch some of the "national" sports guys are isn't it?

Oh no, Sox fans will eat this up so easily.    Time to go follow all the foodie accounts for ?.

Then pitchforks and torches when he signs elsewhere.   "We were lied to again"

This might be the funniest thing I’ve ever read. It belongs in the Onion, not the Athletic.

I don't think so, the comment section is hilarious

I think the Machado/Harper stuff has turned the entire fanbase into cynics.

Ooh, that would be great!

Where's he gonna play??

He’s right handed, pass.
