Sox @ Rays: 540CT - Kopech vs. Faucher: The Turnaround Starts Now

Today is a big day.  Bullpen day for the Rays.  Getting deep into it would be great.  Tomorrow has two Cy frontrunners going, so probably won't get too deep into their pen tomorrow.

The Rays are so interesting.  You look at their roster, and even their stats to date, and outside of Wander and to a lesser extent Arozarena, their lineup is so.....ordinary.  The Lowes have both been good, but we're talking about guys like Yandy DIaz, Manny Margot, and Issac Paredes playing huge roles on the club.  Obviously its an amazingly coached organization, but this isn't some 110+ win squad.  Even their pitching outside of McClannahan doesn't pop off the page.

They're definitely a very well run organization. Its impressive how much production they get from their roster.

You've been judging the Sox "on paper" for the last 2+ seasons, how has that worked out for you?

The Rays could not be more different than the Sox. They pitch incredibly well (don't strike a ton of guys out but also have given up the fewest hits in the league thus far), have the lowest WHIP in the league, they lead the league in HR's, OBP & AVG and play good to very good defense.

The Sox trout out a collection of over-hyped, yet to deliver and expensive talent that has them holding a deserving 7-12 record.

It's amazing to see you not only hype up the Sox over the last year, but use terms like "ordinary" and "doesn't pop off the page" when talking about a franchise that has made the playoffs the last 4 seasons, in one of the toughest divisions in baseball, with an incredibly small payroll, and are currently 16-3.

I hate when the Sox get a runner at 1B because I have to see Daryl Boston's face.

The level to which you have to suck to walk 5 White Sox in an inning is insane

Well when guys like Harold Ramirez are sporting a 186 OPS+ it could be within the realm if possibility this kind of production over less than 20 games of the season is a fluke

Eloy at cleanup, I love it...

I mean, we're going nowhere unless he turns it around so might as well keep riding him until he does.

I put my Sox flag out yesterday, so it's in the bag now!!!

Wow this team could legit be done for the year if TB takes care of business. Odds looked stacked against us.

Therefore we will win the series.

Sox only hope is to score runs. Go with the hot hitters.

Rays will jump out to an early lead and the players will look defeated/disinterested for the remainder of the game.

While their best hitter is batting 6th.

They also have Wonder. Who is a real 8 WAR superstar. Not like the wannabees we have failed to develop.

We have Nintendo.

Wonder Bread or Wander Franco?

ChatGPT4 really has taken over your account lol?

Without 20-25 homers... he's probably closer to 6.5ish fWAR territory.

Did you just watch Tetris The Movie?

I hope we get good Kopech and not tipping pitches Kopech!

But remember Rick says we are in the middle of a "window of contention for multiple championships..." LOL

I wonder if in his heart of hearts he actually believes any of this.

It's been a rough go for the fan boys.

The Sox frontline team looks good on paper and should win if everything goes right.  But roster construction (top heavy, singles hitters, poor defense, pitching dependent on the strikeout) and lack of depth makes them susceptible to variance.

Jay Cuda could do better than Hahn assembling this bullpen...

(Watched Jose Ruiz pitching last night for AZ... looked better again.)

The Rays are a lot like the Giants (two years ago) Brewers and Guardians... line up does not jump out at you at all, but they mesh together so well.

That said, if Harold Ramirez was on the Sox/Royals/Tigers... his OPS would undoubtedly be sub 600 territory.

Beckham is so terrible to listen to.

Would rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard.

Switched to Rays' feed.

Faucher is about as bad as you'll ever see the Rays starting. Let's see if the Sox bats can take advantage.

Beckham is already unlistenable

Great movie

I would watch it five more times (or Air) before dealing with Renfield or The Pope's Exorcist.

The new Evil Dead movie has been drawing raves...at least there's that.
