    An accurate graphic

  • Why don’t you tell us why there was no alternative?  Or why you believe so strongly in everything he has done in house, that is not visible or even quantifiable?  Or why we should accept him as “bette

  • I'll do my guy a favor and save @WestEddy some time for writing his own reply, and do it for him, because I'm a mensch.  "I'M NOT STICKING UP FOR THEM? WHERE DID I SAY I WAS STICKING UP FOR THEM?

7-9 for the record...6-10 would be great, because it would mean a number in the 30's.

39-123 just looks much worse than 40-122.

No, it isn’t.  Rick Hahn used his Vulcan mind meld, took over Getz’s mind and body, and has made all of the Sox moves since the start of the offseason.

There’s a few ways of looking at the record…pre-1900 included, total losses, worst percentage. I want them to be worse than the 1916 A’s by winning percentage…so 38-124. 5-11 or worse.

38-124 is the real target.

That is the worst winning percentage in 125 years.

And it's worth mentioning that the 1899 Cleveland Spiders were effectively a AAA team. The Spiders owners also owned the St. Louis Perfectos (formerly the Browns). They then transferred all of the Spiders good players to St. Louis.

The league then banned owners from owning more than 1 team.

But it really hammers home: The 2024 White Sox will likely be the worst team in MLB history that is actually attempting to be a major league team. Yes, there were restraints with Jerry, but everything Getz said when he got hired through Spring indicated that he thought they'd be a decent - not good, mind you, just decent - team at worst.

Chris Getz actively trying is this bad.

“But Jerry is the owner…

“This was always going to be a losing season…”

”No one could have done better so who cares?”

“It’s not Getz’s fault…”

They also played a vast majority of their games on the road. It wasnt MLB. As far as I can tell, the  White Sox are now the 3rd professional sports team since the beginning of last century to reach the 80 games below .500 mark in a season. Embrace it.

Considering they are 6-46 their last 52, it would seem impossible to hit the 40 win mark. They currently might even be worse than their record.

I want 3-13 so they finish 90 games under .500 (36-126).

36-126 does have a nice ring to it. I'll be surprised if they win 3 more games though.

If you call back to back playoff appearances flimsy for the first time in franchise history, sure.

One of those playoff appearances was the covid year and deserves an asterik. TLR got the most out of the players and mircalously won the division the next year. Two playoff appearances with no series wins is not a successful rebuild in no, way, shape, or form. Even more so due to the fact that Hahn was trying to emulate the Cubs and Astros rebuild.

Until Tony didn't get the most out of the players and they collapsed under his watch.

They were bound to collapse no matter who the manager was. They went from divion winner in 2021 to the worst team in the history of baseball in 3 years. That is all the proof one needs to see how the rebuild was built on a piss poor foundation.

Honestly I have never seen anything like it.  All of these guys were showing promise and talent at the major league level.   Then to a man they ALL regressed, and regressed like I have never seen that many players do.  If the foundation was bad, they should have never shown that much ability, and never gotten anywhere at all.  it would have been different if they never made a playoff, but they did twice.  If the foundation was that bad, they never break .500.

Seeing Yoan and Eloy lose all their power was insane.

It's like a supervillain origin in a Saturday morning cartoon where if can't get any chocolate chip cookies no one can get them.

Getz couldn't hit for s%*#, so here we are.

A lot of GM’s were former players that were even worse than Getz (Billy Beane), but they knew they sucked as players and could still identify good hitters that could get on base.  Getz goes after weaklings (Lopez, Fletcher, Julks, Vargas, Amaya, etc.) that hit as poorly as him.

Beane was also a top draft pick who was once considered the best prep player in the country.

Getz always a complementary type of player who didn't stand out in any way.

So were all over here having a meltdown on the Dolphins message board I post on and one of the posters made an excellent comment about the Dolphins GM that I think fits absolutely perfect with the White Sox situation.

"It's hard to blame Grier for one reason.

He didn't force himself into this position.

Someone hired him and someone refuses to acknowledge Grier has some serious liabilities. You can't fault Grier for taking a high level job if someone's going to give it to him.

The problem is above Grier's paygrade."
