Just hire Carlos Pena off ESPN...Beane's not even working specifically in baseball in his new role with John Henry/Fenway Sports Group.

Transitioning media types into actual jobs hasn't been working too well recently in other areas.

I just watched Moneyball for the fourth time.  Perhaps Getz could find some inspiration by quickly viewing.🙂

I can see the Sox converting one of these catchers into a first baseman to be sure.

That movie was funny because they make it seem like the path to victory is through taking a walk...only the A's had the best rotation in baseball, I don't think they even mentioned pitching in that movie.

how about moneyball except it's about giving good players lots of "money" to hit the "ball".

Yes, at that time it was Tim Hudson, Barry Zito and Mark Mulder.  Three aces.

And they pretty much were in the movie for about 1/10th the amount of time as Scott Hatteberg or Chad Bradford, lol.

The closer had a storyline in the movie.

Billy Koch…former White Sox as well.

No it was Chad Bradford in the movie. He wasn't the closer, though. I don't think Koch is even mentioned in the movie.

Vaughn in a heated race for worst player in baseball so far. -.6 fWAR is impressive in 20 odd games.

Chad Bradford, the steal of the century... a whole 10 career WAR.  How could Williams let that fine middle reliever go for a catching prospect.  A heist it was, as Olivo only had 8 career WAR.

I like analytics, and KW made some goofy moves, but the harangue over Chad Bradford in that book along with the beat-down of KW because of that trade,  was ridiculous.

And Kenny still has one more World Series victory than Billy Beane. Maybe they can put that in the sequel.

What I would do to have PRIME 2005 & 2006 Kenny Williams as the GM right now.  Kenny sucked at manny things but he at least gave a crap and tried........and also got Jerry to spend some money

Yeah, whatever happened to that guy?

Wow.  McCarthy has been god awful this year.

Minus Javy Vasquez...also, a lot of arguments Rowand and Everett leaving that 2005 squad sapped team of leadership.

And would have been nice to see prime Gio Gonzalez.

The same excuse for the life of Getz as Sox GM.  The Sox are always rebuilding so they will always be expected to suck.  What a genius idea for job security but it only works if your boss is the worst owner in baseball who doesn’t care about winning.

Normal bad, not historically bad.

Is this Palacios guy a good acquisition? How the heck did we acquire him. He got on base two of four times tonight. Nice.

No, he sucks too.  Pirates mostly.

Lost in here is the fact that Amaya almost has been given enough at bats to qualify.

Just a tremendous job all around.

Is there an official Getz acquisition tracker? (probably missing some)

Soroka wasn't a total miss....he did well enough he got almost double 2024 salary from the Nationals...

One day closer to him being fired.

Subracting one from infinity doesn't really improve things.

They scored 127 more runs in 2006 than in 2005.  They didn’t lose because Aaron Rowand (who loved ripping the fans) was traded.  Their pitching failed them.
