And hiring a GM that made helped build the Rays farm system. Then he did it again. They didn't even really sign big free agents until Freeman and Ohtani.* We get Andrew Benintendi and prayers for prospects. And we share a spring training complex with them. Not going to the Cubs--would have been real cool for the city of Chicago. Probably not so much for Sox fanbase. But the Cubs wouldn't go spending on any of their other needs after shelling out that kind of money, so they likely wouldn't win anything anytime soon even with Ohtani.
