White Sox acquire Corey Julks from HOU for RHP Luis Rodriguez, option to AAA, recall Dom Fletcher, Ortega DFA'd

  • Sleepy Harold changed the title to White Sox acquire Corey Julks from HOU for RHP Luis Rodriguez, option to AAA, recall Dom Fletcher, Ortega DFA'd

Guess Getz turned on MLB the Show a bit early this morning, and felt the need to make some more unnecessary moves.

Glad Ortega is gone, though. And quite amusing that they didn't release him until AFTER he got his first hit.

Oh...wait a minute. This damn clown did it again...traded a 20 year old in Rookie league, for a 28 year old journeyman OFer???

AND, Julks was DFA for Houston before this? So stupid.

Stop treating the organization like your personal save of MLB the Show, asshat.

Obviously those 3.2 American innings told them everything they needed to know.

Looking the numbers, Julks has actually put up some impressive numbers in AAA the last few years, over .800 OPS in all of them including 30 homers two  years ago.  They are PCL numbers though, so probably inflated to some point.  Honestly even his .650 OPS last year with Houston in his first pro play would look nice in this shithole line up.

Trying to see what the problem with this kid is that Houston is quitting on  him?  Anyone got any more info somewhere because I am not seeing it.  I get he wasn't great with his first stop in Houston, but it seems quick to pull the plug on a guy who seems to have some tools.

Lol.

Burger was way too young compared to some of these guys.

Apparently...the goal is for them to gel together and hit the ground running when they are all in Years 30-32.

It's ridiculous Ortega even got so much play in the first place.

One thing Burger at least had last year was elite EV/bat speed compared to the majority of his teammates.

Good riddance on Ortega.  Guy never should have been here and was terrible.  Was appalling watching Pedro attempt to use him as a defensive CF when he was brutal out there.

Julks is actually somewhat interesting.  Has big time power, has speed and is a decent OF.  Still has two options left.  Don't love giving up a lottery ticket for him, but happy to give him some reps down the line.

Nothing about his time in MLB last year suggests he has big time power and his 31 home run seasons is insanely PCL inflated. Lewis Brinson who is now playing in Mexico hit 22 home runs in 85 games that year playing for the same team.

God, Getz seems to be a downgrade from Hahn.

Goes to show that we should be careful what we wish for.

Idc if this kid turns out to be nothing. This is a fireable offense on principle

He’s already 28.  It seems like Charlotte just needed an outfielder to replace Fletcher.

He did put up some pretty impressive exit velocity readings with Houston.
