Chicago White Sox: All out. They are listening on everyone, and they're the odds-on favorite to make the most deals in the next week. Rarely does a deadline line up so well for one team. The White Sox have the best pitcher and hitter actively on the market (Crochet and Robert). They've got arguably the best under-control pitcher expected to move (Erick Fedde) and another bat who's a deadline darling (Tommy Pham). They've got relievers (Michael Kopech, John Brebbia, Tanner Banks) and infielders (first baseman Andrew Vaughn and shortstop Paul DeJong). They're happy to do package deals or one-offs. When you're on pace to go 43-119, anything is on the table.

There is a chance Chicago holds on to one (or all) of its most valuable trade chips and moves them come the offseason -- especially if teams leery of Crochet's innings try to pay reliever prices for him -- but the prospect of an organization getting desperate and meeting the required return is never more palpable than in a wide-open playoff panorama.

Still think it's suicide for the Tigers to trade Skubal if they want to remain competitive next season.

Like somebody else said, I wish they'd just lony up 5y/150m and sign Crochet. The guy is special.

There is arguably more risk than reward in extending Crochet 2 1/2 seasons away from free agency though

Sox are not going to be competitive in the near term, so as great as Crochet has looked it may make sense to cash him in for young, cost controlled talent and build for the future.

See Caulfield "extend Crochet and Kopech thread" from months ago... would have to put Kopech back in rotation yet again.

With Yelich perhaps out for the year, I'll take Miz and Black for Robert

Give me Jeferson Quero.  How cool would it be to have two stud catchers on the roster both named Quero but unrelated?  ?

Hmmm, I do not care for either of those players.

I would love to have crochet locked up

The Twitter guy “Footlong Comiskey Dog” just tweeted “Dombrowski is trying to have the World Series won by next week” with Sox and Phillies logo as the hash tags. Is this account full of it for those that know better?

I feel like they have some sort of legitimate source. Though that account is cringe af at times with hot takes.

Don’t know if it is credible but it’s easy to say the teams are talking. One is a buyer, one is a seller. If a trade doesn’t happen, you can say they just couldn’t agree on a deal. Don’t look too much into that account’s (and others) posts.

I also might be influenced by the fact that Northbrook Bob follows said account.

That would be much better than LAD.

If you can get Miller and Crawford you got your CF and SS (Law says Miller should stick at SS.....unlike Montgomery).

Philly is such a better fit than the Dodgers farm IMO. I've seen conflicting reports on Miller sticking at SS. Pretty sure BA has him moving to 3B.

This would be a cool three team framework:

White Sox get: Prospects from Team X and Baltimore

Baltimore gets: Robert and Crochet or Fedde

Team X gets: Cedric Mullins

Problem is Mullins has been pretty bad for three seasons in a row.  He is apparently not the All-Star stud he was in 2021.

We should just take Mullins back. Who cares

Mullins sucks and isn’t bringing back anything that interesting.

His $6M or so per year in arbitration for two years will cripple us as a franchise. Can't take that chance.

I think of him as more of a salary dump

Yeah and in a 3-way trade isn't really providing any value.

4. White Sox trade LHP Garrett Crochet to Dodgers for RHP Gavin Stone, OF Andy Pages, C Dalton Rushing and LHP Jackson Ferris
The rebuilding White Sox need to trade Crochet and turn him into at least four major-league players with upside. Stone would immediately replace Crochet in their rotation. He’s impressed during his rookie season, going 9-3 with a 3.19 ERA over 18 starts. The 25-year-old might not be the ace or the future Cy Young Award winner that many think Crochet is, but he’s a solid starting pitcher whom Chicago would control through 2029. Pages would go right into their starting outfield on one of the corners, Rushing would become either their everyday catcher or a trade asset they can utilize, and Ferris, 20, has high upside as a left-handed starting pitcher.

The Dodgers are actively seeking a difference-making starter for the postseason, with Crochet and Skubal at the top of their target list. They need to address their fragile rotation at the deadline and can put together a strong prospect package, starting with Stone. Crochet significantly enhances their chances in 2024 but also bolsters the top of their rotation, alongside Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow, for the next two years.

White Sox trade CF Luis Robert Jr. to Phillies for CF Justin Crawford and RHP Mick Abel
The White Sox would ask for shortstop Aidan Miller straight up and the Phillies would decline. They’d then ask for right-hander Andrew Painter, who is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, to be in the deal and again would be turned down. However, a deal for Crawford and Abel should be able to get done. I know Phillies fans will be screaming not to include Crawford, a first-round draft pick in 2022 out of high school, who has already reached Double A; however, Robert is a better overall player with much more power and could be the final big piece that helps the Phillies win the World Series this year.

From the Chicago side, they’d get an elite defensive center fielder with blazing speed on the basepaths and above-average bat-to-ball skills, they’d save the money from Robert’s contract (he’s making $12.5 million this year, will make $15 million next year and has $20 million options for both 2026 and 2027), and in Abel they’d have a 22-year-old pitching prospect with a power arm who, despite his diminished stock, could end up as a No. 2 starter if he can solve his control and command issues.
