What are you looking forward to this off season?

The constant stream of leaks about how great the offers are for Crochet and the moment they flip into "Well that was the best offer available", both of which somehow mean that Getz is doing a great job.

I am sad I missed this obviousness.

Definitely Jerry talking about the stadium and making thinly veiled threats about moving the team.  A close second is when he inevitably blames the fan base for a lack of offseason spending.

I'm looking forward to buying into the hype of our MiLB teams. I'm going to bask in the feeling of it's going to get better. I'm going to believe the next manager is going to grow with the team. I'm too old to be pessimistic. Life is too precious.

It won't be too long til we get the Spring Training stories of how "insert player here" is in the best shape of his life.

Keep Grady as bench coach. He has history with all these young guys. And bring in an outside, competent manager. Someone on the younger side. Completely restructure our scouting & analytic departments, fire anyone who sucks and modernize it all. Sign 1 decent IF guy, spend the rest on pitching. (with a couple premium bullpen arms) Give Crochet a competitive offer and if he makes a little extra demand, give in to it. No losing deals over peanuts like that Giolito bullshit.

The start, because the end means baseball is closer, if you consider this organization is capable of playing baseball

The highlight will likely be the buildup to a Crochet trade.  Tons of speculation on all the young prospects we will get before Getz settles on a post hype guy with less than six years of control as the centerpiece.

You know Scott Merkin has a bunch of folders on his desktop for each year of Spring Training and just randomly digs up an old article on this and replaces the old Sox player names with the new ones.

I wonder if we will even notice that AI has been writing these for years for Bruce Levine?

It would have to be some intern using the AI for Levine.  Bruce probably thinks AI is just some computer-savvy guy named AL.

Bruce Levine hasn't been alive since 1987.

Tie between (1) Nicky Lopez gets Leury Garcia extension, and (2) Matt Foster traded for 5+ out-of-options DFA candidates to create budget room to give Nicky Lopez the Leury Garcia extension.

I am looking forward to new ownership somehow this off season.

Robert being able to leave the organization and reach his true potential with another coaching/development staff.

So you're ready to #UnleashTheBeak?

I'm looking forward to them not taking the option on Moncada and that sorry saga finally coming to an end.

However, knowing this organisation they will then resign Eloy as a free agent!

I'd like to lock Crochet up and sign some solid clubhouse guys that can provide a positive environment for our prospects. I'd like to have a good defensive team that helps our pitching. I think I want a lot of Crash Davis'. Hopefully that environment will provide some growth and give the Sox an identity that the franchise can build on. Finding a handful of solid 1 WAR, fundamentally sound veterans would do wonders in helping us create a culture and foundation. I think that's was Getz tried to do with DeJong, Lopez, Pillar, Pham etc.

I think that's what Getz tried to do this year, but getting no production from Robert, Moncada and Jimenez took us from bad to all time terrible.

I am not looking forward to anything. I have no expectations. None whatsoever.

At least that way you won't be disappointed!

Actually, I am already disappointed. I don't expect anything, but I would like a team that develops a winning tradition.

all of the above for me. Just more BS. Next year they will lose 102 games and be crowing with their chests out they improved 19 games.

This answer has been rejected as too hopeful and not realistic enough.  Please try again.

I'm looking forward to serious hires for an organizational hitting program, stats department, international and pro scouting. I don't expect them to catch up to Tampa or the Dodgers in one offseason. Their health and conditioning issues seemed to only apply to 3 guys, but addressing the training staff would be nice.

I would like Getz to get respectable returns for Crochet and Robert. I can't imagine they need to save space for Jacob Amaya, Chuckie, Gavin Sheets, or Braden Shewmake. Justin Anderson and EDLS are in arbitration, so unless they have a magical elixir that turns them into supermen, that's elbow room.

I don't expect any FA signings of note. Maybe a better targeted version of the Brebbia/Leonne experience in the bullpen. Fedde/Flexen/Soroka produced a Cy Young competitor, an innings eater, and a bullpen arm. I can stomach another whack at that to supplement Cannon/Thorpe/Burke/Davis.

If the Aug/Sept output of Benintendi and Vaughn is real, they can anchor this team, and play to be traded next deadline. I'd imagine a June 1 infield looks like Ramos-Monty-Sosa-Vaughn/Elko. Elko has some work to unlock Matt Davidson level but, like Sosa, he's struggled then hit at every level. If Colas isn't traded/released, he's part of the 6-headed CF hydra of Fletcher/Colas/DeLoach/Julks/Brooks Baldwin/amazing new prospect(!).

I could see the Sox picking up a RF and a SS at the same AmVets dollar sale they shopped last year. Maybe their managerial hire drags a couple of 10-year pensioners along. Max Stassi wasn't a bad idea, and I could see a veteran catcher to challenge Quero for co-catcher.

I have a weird fascination with Buck Showalter as a manager, but see a more realistic choice of 4th-best-young-managerial-prospect, followed closely by "Grady Sizemore checks all the boxes(!!)"

tl;dr - slightly better same old.
