Excluding Robert, those three are for sure on the MLB roster. Recently gave Cal Mitchell a NRI. Fletcher and Julks still exist. I’m not saying it’s great but they certainly didn't have anywhere near this type of OF depth going into the 2024 season. Should just play Mitchell...34 year old CFers don't have any upside remaining unless it's synthetic/chemically-produced.
December 10, 20241 yr This guy was ok for the Cubs last year, but at 34 years old, he is unlikely to repeat that. I guess I just don't see the value in spending a dime on players like this. They should let Fletcher play, stop with the older end of the bench types
December 10, 20241 yr Is this the same board that had posts which compared him to Benintendi and said we got the same type guy for 5 times the price? He puts in an honest day's work.

Not sure who compared Tauchman to Benintendi but neither player does anything for this team.

December 10, 20241 yr The Getz special: no risk no reward edit: he was ok last year but don’t really see him being moved for anything relevant in the summer Edited December 10, 20241 yr by Bob Sacamano

He’s not a guy that a contending team would want starting everyday but he’d certainly get ABs on a number of good teams. The relevant question for the White Sox should be “is he a guy anyone would trade for at the deadline”.

I’m sure he will be more expensive than the duo that Getz signed but pass on Slater and Tauchman and sign Hays, a guy who is still somewhat young, could have a bounceback season, and could be traded for something of value. Hays is a flip candidate. These guys are veteran fodder. Edited December 10, 20241 yr by WhiteSox2023

December 10, 20241 yr 4 WAR in 87 games in 2019… 2.4 WAR in 108 games in 2023… Ok, fine. Arrowsmith this guy.

December 10, 20241 yr This signing would make more sense to me if they had an OF prospect waiting in the wings, maybe they’ll acquire one in a deal for Crochet, but that guy doesn’t exist right now for them. I’m sure Fuller signed off on this but there is a pattern with a lot of hitters Getz has either signed, traded for or drafted, he likes guys that get on base. Tauchman fits that profile, they can play him against righties so he’ll be the strong side of a platoon with Slater. Maybe he’ll be a good guy to have around the young hitters because he’s someone who has professional at bats.

December 10, 20241 yr Tauchman is a perfectly fine role player at what should be $2M to $3M. I don’t think adding him is about getting a potential trade deadline asset, but more so a veteran stopgap and clubhouse presence. I will wait to see what other moves happen being drawing conclusions here. I don’t love the idea of an all veteran OF next year, but I kind of think Robert or Benintendi is getting moved.
