tray
Not sure how the 78 subsurface conditions (not soil...lol) came up but yea, digging half way to hell would likely be required. Look, the 78 thing is dead and no, Ishbia is not stupid enough to sign a lease there like UIC did before they bucked out. In fact, a new owner might not even sign a lease with ISFA and instead choose to move the franchise. Time will tell.

Fielder Jones
Bob did his classic thing where he didnt say definitive stuff ('oh hur dee dur He's just buying up minority shares'), but shaded things in a way that allowed grey area. If you want to corner Bob and follow up and say "did the Sox go to him" i wonder what he'd say. but it's not an interrogation.

The story was never that Reinsdorf is selling. The story is that Justin Ishbia is t buying the Twins and the Reinsdorf’s approached him to take a bigger stake instead. Justin Ishbia is the overwhelming favorite to be the next owner of the White Sox at some point. That’s the story.

Which is true in its own right. The Twins are what they are. Great ballpark but zero room for growth. A Gallagher Way type thing was built next to the park and the Twins aren't involved at all (the Cubs' development venture is, however).

The Athletic made it very clear that everyone they had talked to believed that Ishbia stopping his efforts to purchase the Twins and instead buying out the minority owners was likely a precursor to a larger deal with full control of the White Sox. They never implied when it would take place, but they certainly suggested it was likely to happen at some point.

My guess is that the story has gotten enough attention that JR wants to quash the speculation. Or he really loves destroying our hopes and dreams. A Gallagher Way type thing was built next to the park and the Twins aren't involved at all (the Cubs' development venture is, however). That's not a great ballpark. It's one of the more boring outdoor stadiums that I've been to. Just kind of blah/sterile. Not as bad as the Metrodome, obviously, but not much of a home field advantage either. Twenty year old stadium, it's another 10-15 years before they even THINK about replacing it...and the Twins' fanbase has grown so disenchanted with the Pohlads not spending past a certain point, there's just not nearly as much overall support there as for the Vikings or TWolves. The Twins' valuation was $1.5 billion...you've got a secondary media market, vs. the opportunity to build a new stadium in Chicago in the #3 media market, and come in as the "hero/savior" to a frustrated fanbase, it's a no-brainer as an investment to choose potential of the White Sox. Meanwhile, the Twins are saddled with the Correa and Buxton contracts....one of their starting pitchers at $15-20 million as well.

I'd bet he loves Winnetka's North shore more than the South side of Chicago. But who knows what anyone's long term intentions are? Nevertheless, the old axiom that money talks may apply, especially to a billionaire corporate raider. I agree with Reinsdorf on one (and only one) thing - The White Sox are worth more out of town than they will ever be worth here. No amount of money can change the dynamic here with the Cubs as the dominant baseball franchise in town. Ishbia knows that which is one reason that he may seek greener pastures. Unfortunately you and everyone else have him already owning the team and you have him owning then moving them. Makes for a lively discussion I guess but I'll leave the wild speculation on who owns what percentage of shares to Caulfield . If Greenberg finds out more wake me up. If JR is feeding Nightingale that's even more reason to distrust the info.
