Baldwin can be on the roster, but he shouldn't be playing over Sosa. "He's not good in a small sample size" is kind of beside the point, you can make the same arguments for any of his alternatives. You said the alternative was some old guy.

They should both be playing every day for now. Argument shouldn’t be Sosa over Baldwin. It should be Sosa and Baldwin over Amaya.

Diamond Dry would not be a great porn name

  • I’ll do one better: A week ago, if somebody offered me $1,000,000 to correctly answer which sport and team Nick Maton played for, I wouldn’t be any richer.

  • this isn't a pitchers battle, its a shitty hitter battle

Guy who can play pretty much any position and put up a 150 wRC+ last year in the minors is “hardly a prospect worth playing”…dear god make it make sense

Guy clearly not close ready, he had a awful series. Sosa proves minors don't mean a thing in MLB, Dear God make it make sense.

Exactly.  Let’s not cut bait on talented young players after three games in a season where only losing 110 would feel like a victory.

Three…fucking…games

You lost Chris Getz here.

You look at this line up and wonder why, unless the game is out of hand, would anyone throw Robert a strike.

5 runs surrendered all series, lose the series.

The White Sox way.

The team could have been 3-0 with some offense. Lets hope they add some hitting sooner rather than later.

That’s the problem, they have no offense.

How?  Their best trade candidate IS a hitter...arguably the best hitter on the team in Robert, Jr.

Eventually we'll see Teel and Quero and Meidroth, but it's not like there are immediate run producers out there?

Tellez or Rizzo over Vaughn at 1B?    Would that really change anything?

Going to be a long year.

Agreed, but hard not to really like what the staff has shown so far.

Today was the same crap as last year, score early in 1 inning and shut out the other 8 innings. The offensive production against opposing bullpens has really been atrocious.

Don't forget the bullpen losing 2 games.  Yesterday was frustrating because the Sox beat themselves.  I didn't see the homer in the 8th today, but regardless, they've already lost 2 games after the 7th inning, which was a glaring factor in last year's record.  It's just 2 games, and they've been close.  I just hope they're able to reverse the trend...

I wouldn't count on it.

There are a lot fewer veterans down in the pen, and Clevinger's now the closer, more or less.

That's a recipe for disaster, if ever there was one.

Booser looked like the best LHP down in the pen coming into the season, and he's been the shakiest.

The poster said we should send him down to AAA after three games.  Sosa is not the guy replacing him on the 26 man roster.  He may get more at-bats as a result but he should be getting those at the expense of Maton (and Amaya) and not Baldwin.  Both guys are going to be needed if we want any semblance of a competent offense.

While I generally agree there is no reason to give up on Baldwin 1 series in, the guy does need to field the ball if he wants to play in the big leagues. He looked like an absolute butcher at 2B today and extremely uncomfortable.

He also seemed to struggle turning double plays.

Which is probably because he played 5-6 different positions in the spring and hasn't worked a whole lot with Amaya...that chemistry is something you only develop playing day after day with someone for weeks at a time, not just getting thrown out there in 30's and 40's temperatures in April across the Midwest and Rust Belt.

I would be surprised if the Sox became buyers in any significant way this season. This year is going to be about alignment of the young players in seasons to come. They’re not interested in picking outside the top 3 for the 2026 draft imo. And they likely can’t do anything about it even if they wanted to.

Outside of catching, there’s not much alignment on the way.

Whether or not the names can be called future “talent”, well that’s a real question to be debated. Some publications appeared slightly optimistic. But, yeah. Lots of work to be done.

Braden Montgomery is at least two years away...and is the closest to a "future star" with Colson's prospect status fading by the week.

Of course, you're referring to Teel and Quero's looming presence in Charlotte as an "alignment," whatever that even means.

It's basically all on the Big 3 starters, along with Burke and now Shane Smith...to transform the franchise into a .500ish/competitive team.

We don't even have a starting pitching niche/depth advantage with all the UCL injuries that have occurred over the past 12 months.

And this is why Jerry won’t take your calls.  No one is adding to a 121 loss team just because they played a few close games.

Against another terrible team at that

If anything Robert is ticketed to a destination to be named later

Charlotte 30-run weekend.
