That’s who they have been asking for?  Seems like him or Hope would need to be in the trade.  Still think that’s an obvious move for the Dodgers to make if the other pieces are minimal (such as Outman).

If this is what the trade looks like, they absolutely boned it by not getting the two top Cincy guys and paying a bit of Robert's 25 number.

Anyone who thinks Tony LaRussa brought anything positive to this organization this time around is truly derranged.

  • I may be in the minority but I have no issue with them keeping Luis. They have nothing committed to payroll next year and no one knocking at the door to be an every day CFer. Also, I would consider ke

  • Oh no. Chris Getz maybe asked for a desirable target in trade negotiations. It's truly unfortunate dialogue ends completely after one player is inquired about.

I strongly prefer DePaula or Hope as a centerpiece over Arroyo.  Not sure who the second piece would have been in a Reds hypothetical but they would have had to been pretty good for me to pick that deal over the Dodgers one.

It was two of their top guys.

I see most are still delusional about Robert?
There’s a better chance he gets released at the end of the year than traded for any meaningful prospects. How long of a stretch do you need to see of a guy not being good at hitting a baseball before reality sets in?

Are we also waiting on the turn around for TA, Eloy, and Yoan? Or is Robert special for some weird reason?

If the offer truly was Outman and De Paula, I really hope it was the Dodgers that turned down the trade and not Getz.  I can’t imagine the Sox getting a better return with Robert sucking at the plate, and every game he plays is just another game for him to get injured in.

Is the 27 year old CF that had a career 125 wRC+ and averaged 4.75 fWAR per 600 plate appearances prior to last season special for some reason?  Probably because he’s a super elite athlete who has a long track record of being highly productive in the majors despite his flaws.

What a terrible trade lets throw in Shane Smith too and get less than that.

I used to love Robert  btw and don't care if we trade him but why would you sell low? Make him live his deal out here until someone panic buys him. Same for Kopech.

Getz pretty much has until the trade deadline to trade Robert, unless you think Jerry is actually going to approve picking up his $20 million dollar option for next season.  Salary is being cut from the payroll year after year so it’s pretty apparent that he won’t be back.

That means the Dodgers think De Paula is a bust.

Nobody has been panic buying Sox for awhile now. We keep thinking Getz isn’t getting enough vale selling low, but that assumes there is some significant rehabbed vale in the future for Sox players. Maybe the reality is that there is only marginal rehabbed value out there to be had.

Would anyone be satisfied trading for De Paula and Outman after thinking we kept convincing ourselves they would get a haul the last 2 years?

Edit: I guess at this point with the way he has played, I’d be thrilled.

To me, De Paula alone would be a haul considering how low Robert has devalued himself with poor performance and injuries.  Outman would just be a throw-in but I’d rather see him in the OF over Palacios, Taylor, and Jones.

Yep, which is why I don’t trust this rumor at all

I don’t either, otherwise Getz would have, or should have, accepted the offer (De Paula and Outman) immediately.

But Lux and Joc Pederson are no longer options, lol...

Outman is Vargas 2.0 hell no.

Would be lucky to get Pages at this point.

But Hope or dePaula the too obvious asks.

Outman wouldn’t be the true “get” in the deal.

He's a placeholder.

His best/only full season was a year he had a .315 OBP. He is/was always an extremely flawed free swinging hitter. The league adjusted and it’s painfully obvious he’s not capable of counter adjusting and will continue to flail at pitches out of the zone.
And cool, he’s athletic and a good fielder…when he’s not missing 50+ games a year with nagging injuries.

Luis Robert Jr is on his way to a Kevin Pillar type career. The sooner you accept that the less it will hurt.

Is Robert the most overrated player in Sox history? He's still just 27 so I guess he has the statlovers drooling that he still has 4 seasons to rake before he's worthless and over the hill cause of age. How could any team justify paying Mr. K a ton of money?
