Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.

Maybe I'm wrong but I have the impression that many posters here feel that Luis Robert is hardly deserving of a MLB job so they would have been happy with just about anything the Sox would have gotten back for him

No, many say that but would be pissed with any return.

Personally, I thinks its just time to move on from the while situation. So in this case I probably would have.

He didn’t trade Robert for trash, so I don’t think he’s been master-classed at all.  This board and most Sox fans would have exploded with fury if he traded Robert for a Mullins-like return.

That likely is what Robert's value is... People need to take a big step back if they think 2023 Robert is coming back (he isn't).

I'm with Hogan, here. Anything short of a Juan Soto return is "failure". People are already dropping markers that not trading him in 2023 was a failure, not moving multiple players today is a failure, etc.

It might be his value in this market.  The Bader and Mullins trades set the market for outfielders at the deadline.  He’s more valuable than those returns, as are Bader and Mullins.

For me it's just that I don't have confidence in any of the three happening let alone more than one of them:

1. The option is picked up

2. Robert stays healthy

3. Robert stays productive

Even if so, he's still an elite defensive CF who has crushed lefties even when struggling overall and has a near 1.000 OPS over the last month (and over .800 the last ~two). He's better and younger than Mullins.

No one said its zero, but valuable players get traded. Other teams discussed trades for Robert with the White Sox and declined to meet the White Sox asking price. Not because he will cost 20M next year, but because he hasn't been very good for the last two seasons.

I am aware if the Sox wanted to move him no matter what, they could have. Other teams look at the price and the ask, and politely declined.

It could be that the White Sox value Robert more than the league does and that has nothing to do with Roberts actual perceived value being low. Valuable players only get traded when another team agrees with the owning team on the given players value.

Of course, but I don't personally trust Getz to find equal value for these assets, so I'd rather keep the known pieces that are here and hope the rest fills in around it and maybe they spend some money and/or hit on some drafts for once.

If Robert's value is really suppressed, I know I wouldn't personally move him because I find his true talent point to be higher. I also understand moving him given his performance so I wasn't going to be too critical of a return barring something that looked like a salary dump.

I agree with another posts take that Robert needs lineup protection to excel -- it's something I've come to consider over the last 15 months. He's a mistake hitter who can be taken advantage of when he's worked around, but when you have to go after him he's much more successful. Either way, that catch and jump he got the other night in the right center gap was what makes him so good and fun regardless.

Whatever it is Luis Robert needs to succeed, we don't seem to have it for him here.  Why we need to bet on this AGAIN is beyond me.

Just want to say I love watching Luis Robert Jr. He is just a fun player. And the white sox are finally having other players who are fun.

From just a watching standpoint, he helps me watch a white sox game.

They still suck but its more of a fun suck.

f*** you Jerry.
