Kimbrel was a bust so they tried to recoup some value by swapping him for a position of need — a starting RF in Pollock. It’s not like the Sox thought they would be terrible in 2022 and picked up Kimbrel’s option to trade him for prospects. Pollock was never a capable RFer unfortunately. Plus he never really wanted to leave the Dodgers.
