There is zero reasons to carry scrub ass players like Capra and Rojas on any level of baseball rosters.   None.

Everyone but Getz knows this.

Keep churning the roster and next man up.   I don't care if you have to go sign someone off the Mexican League, but take a look at other bodies outside of the ones you 100% already know suck at this game.

Another 1 run loss. Sox at exactly that point on the skill/talent curve where it's very hard to win games on the margins but super easy to lose them there.

That's why I don't get pissed about things. Enough good things are happening but way more bad things still.

It's not like I have to remind myself it's a rebuild and there were not a lot of prospects ready to contribute in 2024. A few made the cut this year and more are coming. Rule 5 was a big help. Instant good MLB pitchers in a year when TJohn wiped out a lot of arms. Vargas turning it around helps. Robert sucking hurts.

Starting pitching overall better than expected  because of Smith and now Houser. Some times dumpster diving pays off to make good contributions. Rule 5 is just MLB throwing some unprotected prospects at teams who suck. Teams over protecting position player prospects plays right into the Sox strength if you operate under the assumption that Bannister has a very good rep .

The Sox needed power.  Getz signed a redundant glove-first infielder with no pop.

Did power become cheap while I wasn't looking ? Please make points that make sense.  Power and Strikeouts cost more than $5M a year and more than 1 year contracts.

Others have said it already but prematurely dumping 25-year old Gage Workman was a really short-sided move for a team with no power.  Especially when we have Crapa and Palacios still on the team.  Getz wasted $3.5 million on Rojas so I can see why he is still on the team but Crapa and Palacios taking up roster spots is a joke.  Getz is truly bad at roster management.

Dude I've hardly posted anything the last couple days except for the game thread today.

It's asinine to expect to sign a power hitter when they slashed payroll  again  and didn't even make sign anyone for longer than a year. Who was he supposed to sign ? Even in hindsight if you scan the list of guys with 8 or more HRs right now who was available for $5 or less and over 30 years old and was a free agent. Has some non tender from last year been phenomenal ? You're not even close to living in my head  . Your idiotic takes  jumps off the page . I'm not here waiting breathlessly for your next post.  I treat everyone the same. If you make sense great. If I don't agree I push back a little. If you make no sense whatsoever , I push harder.

Go look at your last 20 posts and see how many I've ignored. You can make valid points every so often .

I said that the Sox needed power.  I never said that I expected Getz to be able to sign a power hitter for $3.5 million.  The point that you missed because you are usually too busy bloviating about how you predicted something stupid in a Sox game was the second part of my post.  Our GM spent $3.5 million on a redundant and needless player with posters already questioning why he is on the roster.  But please go ahead and ignore all of my posts going forward as well.  You have this disturbing Single White Female thing going on that I want no part of.

3-16 in one run games.

That really is incredible, you'd think the law of averages would kick in and they'd win a few.

Wonder what the worst record for a season in one run games is.

Not sure if this is still accurate as it is a Fangraphs article from January 7, 2022, but here it is…

Meanwhile, Baseball Almanac says the 1966 Yankees went 15-38 in 53 one-run games, so I’m not sure why there is a 5 game and 3 loss disparity between the two reported records.

I wish it was just an easy record to find on this Baseball Almanac site but I don’t see it.  They appear to have every year abd team split for 1-Run Games but you would have to look at them one at a time.  Unless I’m missing it, they don’t simply list the worst team record for 1-Run Games in MLB history.

Regarding recent White Sox teams in 1-Run Games.  It looks like this current Sox team has a chance to set their franchise record.

2025 White Sox:  3-16 (.158) in 18 1-Run Games with 100 games left to play

2024 White Sox:  13-29 (.310) in 42 1-Run Games

2023 White Sox:  19-30 (.388) in 49 1-Run Games

Vasil continues to impress.  I think the plan is rotation for next year, although I wonder if the lack of slider or cutter will eventually limit him.

Vasil, Smith, Martin, Burke, Cannon would make a strong 3-5 behind 2 aces.  There's depth plus each of those guys is at least a 4. I think we're going to need that because getting  top 5 or 10 offense is going to be a long trudge.  Only a few teams are willing to trade it away; and I'm not sure that the Sox have the skills to identify, draft and develop sufficient talent themselves without trades.

I still think that it's time for a more aggressive churn of the 26 man.  Palacios is a fine, gregarious fellow, but I think we've seen enough of his game. Rojas, et al.

Yeah I think it's really time to see if Fletcher/Julks/etc can give you anything more than Palacios. Rojas/Capra should also go for Sosa and Baldwin.

Whoever doesn't get to replace Palacios will replace Tauchman and Taylor when they are moved.
