First of all, you who have been making these statements know who you are,and it's time to admit that you were wrong. 

Statement 1)  This year's Sox are not any better or are not significantly/ noticeably better than last year's Sox. I don't think I need to even put for reasons for this; it is now clearly obvious. 

Statement 2)  Getz should never have signed Slater and Tauchman.  When they are on the field, they make the Sox team clearly better, both offensively and defensively. They both make good decisions and do the little things (put down a bunt/ take walks) that set good examples and help the team win. Plus for their value to the team, their price tags are cheap (this is obvious or the Sox would not have signed them).    ** The part of the argument against signing them that almost makes me laugh out loud is the idea that baseball is a "young" man's game, and since they're over 30, they're too old, their skills have deserted them, and they're injury prone. This cracks me up because there are probably over 50 players in both the NFL and NBA over 30 doing just fine, and players in those sports put more physical stress on their bodies in 4 minutes of action than a MLB player will in a three game series. 

**** Since we won last night, let's keep trying to win, and that means put the best players on the field for the entire series. I want to see Tauchman and Slater in the lineup both today and Sunday. Of course get Teel in there and the others, but I don't want to see Capra or Palacious unless it a situational thing. We want to win; play our best players. They get Monday off and can rest then; let's do everything we can to win this series, maybe sweep.

They still aren't. 

Signing meaningless old players who block the kids for a few more wins in 2025 doesn't do this franchise any good in the long run.  This is all about development. Everything else is slight of hand.

What kids are they blocking?

Tauchmann is way better than the other stiffs we've tried to play in that spot the last few seasons.

Uh, ok.

It is a statement of fact that they are better this year.  They were 30th best team last year.  This year they are 29th.  They are in fact better than last year.

Other fans are on board, too.  A 5 percent increase in attendance over this point last year.

We are watching a sleeping giant.

Keeping players that age healthy/available is the problem.

Granted, there are not any outfielders between Chicago and Braden pushing for time unless you really buy into Julks and Fletcher's AAA numbers.

I mean, the young guys look extremely promising and the pitching staff looks good and has a ton of control. I think it's easy to see it's trending in the right direction.

It is trending in the right direction, they’re still a bad baseball team. We don’t need a new gotcha thread every time they win a couple games. Anything good that’s not controllable will be stripped off this team in the next month or so, they are still a ways off from being a competitive team.

On one of those Athletic podcasts,  ole Eno was trying to make that comparison, but Jed Lowrie,  pro infielder turned analyst, was having none of it.

For  a real prospect, yes trade. 

For a  Rule 5 guy, the likely offer, keep him.
