Especially at the MLB level where you have cavernous parks, slicing rockets and the eyes of thousands on you. Starting a 1B in RF is asking for trouble. In fact, it's sticking your finger up at the baseball Gods and hoping they don't decide to shove it up your ass. Good fucking luck. People say TLR was the start of this stuff but honestly he's just downstream of it. RV used to do the same stupid ass s%*#. It's a White Sox thing. We don't respect what usually works and we sure as s%*# don't have any new ideas either. Throw that fucking paper bag down. This team deserves it. It can also create injuries. You start with an awful defensive lineup, you start with clowns like Taylor that will come up in key spots and THIS IS WHAT YOU GET! Losing is a habit. It starts with overrating your prospects and farm system. Next is thinking you can be cheapass and win at baseball. Not everyone is the Rays. The same s%*# teams do the same thing. If you somehow get lucky and land a star player in the draft don't build around them with outsiders but have a hard on over the prospect you get in return. Jerry is not the only owner that lets you know fans can't have nice things. I doubt this will ever be a solid organization in my lifetime. It's a complete 180 from the other team in town. That's not always the case in NY. 3

The Sox draw a nice crowd on a a Beautiful Friday night so without Robert Jr. , he plays MAT in C and Noda in RF. Soxtalk posters were laughing at that line-up before the game started. I remember in youth baseball I was a stellar third baseman and comfy there. The final year we had a good bat come up and the guy played third. So he took third and I went to the outfield and was very shaky out there and went from wanting the ball hit to me at 3B to dreading it in LF. It was like a pasture out there in my mind. The center fielder did as. much as he could to help me out. But having Yoda have to play RF, ugh, poor fella.
greg775
I'm starting to learn our position players but I really still know nothing about our pitchers since they only work an inning or two and I don't watch the games only the highlights ... so somebody have mercy on greg and tell me which pitchers to pay attention to (future stars) when I peruse the box scores and which ones are stiffs who are about as effective as fathom would be at this stage of his career/life. Thanx in advance. Edited June 28 by greg775

Thanx in advance. The pitching staff is coming around as the team ERA is almost league average, much much better than last year and earlier this season. In the bullpen Grant Taylor is probably our future closer, he hits 100 mph occasionally. Vasil looks like a keeper. Eisert has done a good job. Steve Wilson has done well but he is 30 years old. The starting staff has some potential with Burke, Shane Smith, Cannon and Martin. Houser has done well but will probably be traded to a contender at the deadline as will Civale. Part of the reported agreement between Reinsdorf and Ishbia was that Ishbia is free to invest in the team starting this year... so I don't know why he is waiting. He is basically the defacto owner with Reindorf serving a lame duck term as the putative head of the organization. Time for Ishbia to stand up and start taking responsibility now. Why let this thing deteriorate before your eyes ?

Why let this thing deteriorate before your eyes ? Agree on watching things deteriorate but what could they spend money on as we speak unless it was for things other than players like improvements to Rate Field or maybe front office management or maybe even field management and yes I mean Getz and Venable. I have to admit I like some things Getz has done like the trade of Crochet which brought us Meidroth, Teel and Braden Montgomery. I’m not 100% happy with Venable with his lineups and some in game moves but he has managed to keep the team engaged and hustling.

Kyyle23
It is the wildest thing that you guys think right now in the middle of the season the Sox are just gonna start acquiring new players because Ishbia is the announced successor.
Lip Man 1
“He’s kind of a sneaky athlete ... covers some ground more than I think I gave him credit for just looking at him and his overall profile,” Venable said. “That was part of the attractiveness of acquiring him, his defensive versatility and his ability to go to the outfield.” A sneaky athlete he might be, but Noda’s misplay loomed large as the Sox dropped to 26-56. Coming into the game, the Sox ranked as one of the worst defensive teams in baseball, with minus-15 outs above average. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/06/27/white-sox-ryan-noda-defense-right-field-giants-mike-tauchman-will-venable-noah-schultz
