I agree but Meidroth is better off at 2B but what to do with Sosa is the 64 Thousand Dollar question.

I'd prefer to trade Sosa unless he can become good at playing 1st.

Dude's from Gary, IN. I'm sure he shops at "the Jewels".

Yeah he's just doing the extreme Chicagoland name thing. Lou-ee Roberts baby!

I don't understand the desire to trade Sosa. Would you advocate trading Vargas? Because they are the same age and have the same contract status in terms of time to free agency. I'd be surprised if Getz thought Vargas was so old/close to FA that he should be traded. Not sure why Lenyn would be treated differently. I know Lenyn has a penchant for frustrating mental lapses in the field, but he's also more versatile defensively than Vargas (and just better with the glove in general, other than perhaps 1B where Lenyn seems to have a mental block).  There's a non-trivial chance that Lenyn produces more value than any other infielder on this roster in the next 5 seasons.

If the thought was that teams wanted to pay a huge cost for Lenyn, maybe you think about it. But I doubt they're banging down the doors. You'd be hoping the return turns into a Lenyn Sosa type of player.

I think Vargas has a higher ceiling as a hitter than Sosa. Even when slumping, Vargas draws walks. Sosa is a shortstop who has ratcheted down the ladder to 1B/DH, which is fine, if he hits.

I don't advocate "dumping" Sosa. I believe the Mets mentioned him as a sweetener for Robert (maybe to get close to Getz' desired package), so there is interest. Sosa would be an offensive upgrade for a good 3-5 teams in playoff races.

But looking at our drafting for the last few years, middle infield is going to be a strength, soon. While Bergolla and Gonzalez look like utility guys as soon as next year, Antonacci, Perez and Bonemer (maybe even Lodise and Shelton) are going to be crowding him out in a couple years.

I've expressed that Sosa could very well be a league average place holder for 3 seasons while those guys develop.

Nice job by Colson. I think he's destined to be a strikeout guy, but not all of them are created equal. Some of them are able to adjust to a situation and make contact when it really buys you something

I think Vargas is a first baseman. Some minor adjustments defensively and I think he could be decent. Wish Elko could hit. Would be a nice 1b/DH combo

I think he could end up being a good defensive 1B, my real is concern is he will have to hit a ton to be valuable there.
