The pitcher, Gage Zeihl, is being assigned to high-A Winston-Salem. Dominguez is pretty bad against LHPs, so Slater will probably platoon with him.

This is from The Athletic trade grade piece Quote The Yankees needed a righty outfielder because Trent Grisham and Jasson Domínguez have struggled against left-handed pitching this season. Combined, the pair has hit .195/.299/.299 versus lefties in 2025. Slater has hit .261/.338/.522 with five home runs in 69 at-bats against lefties this season.

July 31, 2025Jul 31 White Sox grade: B Ziehl hails from upstate New York, not far from the southern shore of Lake Ontario, and if he emerges as a big league pitcher, it looks as if he'll do so just off the western shore of Lake Michigan now that he's Chris Getz's latest prospect acquisition for Chicago. According to the prospect gurus, Ziehl relies on decent velocity with plus command and a plus sweeper-style slider as the foundation of his arsenal. A standout on the excellent Miami Hurricanes' staff, Ziehl prospered in high-level competition as a collegian. This year marks his first taste of professional game action, and the results have been just so-so. “Since signing, the Yankees have worked with Ziehl to alter his arsenal. They tweaked his four-seam fastball to give it more cutting action, and they made small upgrades to his slider and changeup as well. His fastball averages just less than 90 mph, and he backs it mostly with a low-80s sweeper but will mix in a mid-80s changeup and the occasional curveball.” baseballamerica.com Another soft tosser. espn.com Edited July 31, 2025Jul 31 by caulfield12

But this is from MLB Pipeline. The slider and changeup are a match in both reports but what’s up with the fastball velocity difference? https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/whitesox/gage-ziehl-695721 Quote Ziehl's ability to command his fastball stands out more than its velocity and life, as it operates at 92-94 mph and reaches 96 with modest ride and run. He misses more bats with a sweeping mid-80s slider that grades as a plus pitch with two-plane depth at its best. He imparts fade and sink on a mid-80s changeup but has difficulty keeping it in the zone. Edited July 31, 2025Jul 31 by WhiteSox2023

It says he relies on "decent" velocity, but then he averages less than 90? That for sure ain't decent. I'm guessing the 94 number is more accurate.
July 31, 2025Jul 31 I just bought 60 dollars of baseball cards of this guy from a Yankees fan. Not sure if it was a good idea but worth a shot.

Your ESPN quote may be inaccurate regarding his average fastball velocity. Other scouting reports are saying his fastball velocity is higher than 90 on average. August 2, 2025Aug 2 Love how this forum always shifts off topic to food. I'm bummed with my diabetes and high blood pressure I can't ever eat Asian again. I always preferred local to chains anyway,
August 2, 2025Aug 2 Yanks have Slater riding the bench while they throw career IF Caballero in right field... 3 of their new arms combined to allow 9 runs in the last 3 innings.

I always preferred local to chains anyway, I know it’s not the same, but can you make some good homemade s%*#? Plain brown rice or noodles, grilled chicken or steak or cooked with a little oil on the stove, veggies, with a light sauce without all the crazy salty MSG sauces? It’s like a burrito — s%*# is good either way. Edited August 2, 2025Aug 2 by WhiteSox2023
