Boopa1219
Not surprising. Im of the opinion that the next franchise player/star player for the Sox isn’t in the system yet.
Tnetennba
The White Sox, amidst the early stages of a rebuild, don’t have a top 100 player? You don’t say. This should not be a surprise to anyone, nor is it particularly newsworthy. Certainly not deserving of its own thread, except for those amongst us addicted to starting pointless threads…

southsider2k5
If this rebuild is going anywhere soon, you need at least one of, if not both of Schultz and Smith to be those guys. If they aren't... Ooof.

The A's may be the best farm system for MLB in decades. I can only think that an A's fan who realizes ever good player the comes up is basically a rental. I look at the Rays and now the Brewers and I couldn't tell you their star players. With an MLB sub the casual fan wouldn't specifically watch those teams. chitownsportsfan
Well if Colson is really a 125 wRC+ guy that plays a fine SS that's a 5 WAR player and he'll be in there next year. We'll see. Him coming out of the gate like he has, and it's not just a fluke, his statcast is lit up with deep red, has been a huge boost to the rebuild. If you suddenly have a 3-5 WAR SS that sure as hell jumpstarts things. Edited August 12 by chitownsportsfan

Sure, but the Sox are also chasing all of MLB right now, except the Rockies.

We passed Pit in wRC+ but we're 42 runs worse defensively. We're still 2nd to last in positon player fWAR. Even the Nats have almost double. Rooker and Butler already signed to an extension, wouldn't be all that surprised if Langeliers Wilson Kurtz de Vries are next. Note Kurtz from last year's draft already Top 50. One of Hagen or Schultz has to make this Top 100 or the rebuild is screwed as the Sox simply don't buy or rent quality pitching anymore. Presumably Sale Rodon maybe Giolito Cease all in that back end of the Top 100. Dylan Cease is still the #8 FA available despite another off year in terms of W/L and walks. Looking like a good "buy lower" candidate for 2026 FA in the $175-225 million range depending on years. Coming off 2024, $250-275 million looked quite possible. caulfield12
Also, note the position/s of Kyle Stowers and Yordan Alvarez, missing with Acuna Jr. Alvarez and Sosa are probably the two best pure hitters of this generation. Also, Mookie Betts just doesn't hit below 70s for a full season. But he has been off since losing 15-20 pounds due to illness first two weeks of the season ( Japan trip). I don’t think that’s scary, especially when the team should have a very high draft pick next year, based on odds. I think there’s guys in the draft next year, who could be that guy for them. Roch Cholowsky, Justin LeBron, Grady Emerson, and Jacob Lombard specifically. I think Cholowsky is the best of the group and he could be like Bregman and be up in 2027 out the gate. I should add that I was specifically talking about position players with my comment 20 hours ago, GreenSox said: Unless the Sox can copy the Brewers’ model. They’re loaded with stars Yelich is well past his 2019-20 prime, has had lots of injuries and Miz was barely in the Top 100 and could blow out an elbow at any time, but Chourio really could be great if he can stay healthy. hogan873
Seeing PCA at #7 is crazy considering he's had about 3/4 of a season of success. Makes me wonder if Colson's improvement and MLB promotion had happened at the beginning of the season if he'd be in the top 100.

What’s his current slump, something like 2/34 coming into yesterday’s games? He and Tucker have both just disappeared as offensive forces, except for a few walks. If both those guys were on the White Sox instead, probably ranked in the thirties or low 40s, lol. Edited August 14 by caulfield12

Yeah, Tucker at least has a longer history of being an impact player. PCA's slump is probably an overcorrection. He's definitely not as bad as he has been, but I doubt he's as good as he was. Still a good player, but not the savior of Chicago sports. And you're right about if those guys were on the Sox. They'd be ranked much lower.
