WBWSF
After hearing what Getz said the other day its obvious the White Sox are not going to spend any money on free agents this off season. This team would be so much better signing Schwaber and Naylor. This ownership is content with losing AND A LOW PAYROLL. This is really a bad situation and if JR had any decency he would sell the team now or turn over running the team to the new owner.

I don't think they are losing on purpose but they want to have a payroll as low as possible. Unfortunately, that really means the losses will keep mounting up.

Even if he wanted to Getz basically has been told not to do much at all because of the coming lockout.

Robert Redford played Roy Hobbs when he was 46 so we should sign "The Natural" in 14 years. Good news though....we should have the budget to hire that two bit carney hypnotist for next season. mac9001
You'd have a hard time convincing me Schwarber is the best use of whatever funds they may have available. This team is 2 years away from being 2 years away. Schwarber is going to be massively overpaid to DH, we need to spend Schwarber level money to just fill the roster with replacement level players that actually belong on a MLB roster.

Ohtani doesn't seem like the type to hang on forever (like Ichiro did)...plus his body will probably start to break down in his mid to late 30s under all the stress of two way performance. caulfield12
Maybe he can be reunited with firmer IU teammate 2B Micah Johnson...or catcher Josh Phegley. Retiring from baseball after the 2018 season, Johnson shifted his focus to creating artwork, a hobby he had only started 3 years before.[23] He opened an art studio in New Hampshire where he created physical artwork on canvas.[24] Johnson also ventured into the new and fast-growing medium of NFTs. He sold multiple pieces in early 2020, selling one NFT in April for six Ethereum or approximately $940. His works frequently depicted black children in an inspirational or encouraging light. On August 18, 2022, Josh Phegley was named the director of player development for Michigan.[26] Edited November 10 by caulfield12

WBWSF
I read where the projected 2026 White Sox payroll is $59 million dollars. If you deduct the $20 million for Robert and deduct the $17 million for Benedenti you have a payroll of $22 million . That is out and out shameful. I think its easy to see that JR wants this low payroll as he's laughing all the way to the bank. 1

No revenue sharing to rely upon as a supposed major market team. A disastrous last three seasons with RSN rights deals collapsing, cutting another $50 million roughly from revenue. Now it just feels like a death spiral...until at least 2029.

Just think — if Jerry ever saw your request for a GM interview and gave you a shot, that’s the payroll you would ultimately be working with. I’d probably share my resume with 25 other teams before doing so with the White Sox.

Twins wouldn't be much fun either, going from playoffs (beating Yankees) to a complete surrender much worse than the White Flag trade. The Sox were only a few games out of first place and had just gotten Ventura back from the gruesome leg injury when JR pulled the plug. The Twins were never that close to a potential post season spot if I remember right. The White Flag Trade was much, much worse and that doesn't even factor in the national and local implications, the fan resentment over the next few years (even in 2000) and the impact it had on the field.
