I honestly wouldn't mind sticking Kelenic somewhere in the OF for the entire year and see what happens, he's only 26

I wish they had the balls to DFA Benintendi and get him the f*** out of here

This thread is as enjoyable as I hoped it would be.

As for the acquisition....sure why not??

Kelenic put a 62 wRC+ in AAA last year.  You do not hand him a major league job under any circumstance.  He’s got to go to Charlotte, produce, and then hope an opportunity presents itself.  Until then, he’s nothing but minor league fodder.

lol…it certainly was fascinating.  Downtown Brown was making the weird Jeep comments for months, but I don’t think anyone here really understood the point of them until the other dude came in and tried to out (or pretend out) Harold in a very direct manner.  The fact we may have had one former Sox employee engaging in cyber warfare on Soxtalk against a current Sox employee is incredible.

Some weirdo was harassing Harold on here, constantly making comments about Jeep Wranglers.  Then some other psycho poster (probably an alt account for the other guy) basically confronted Harold and accused him of being the White Sox’s assistant scouting director who also happens to own a Jeep dealership.  Unclear the truth of that, but doesn’t seem crazy given the inside info Harold had shared on this site.  Also, based on what the psycho guy was saying in his accusations, he was either Haber himself or had a close relationship with Haber and held some sort of grudge against Harold, although I can’t recall if it was simply because he didn’t like him leaking White Sox business or something deeper & more personal.  And shortly after the more direct accusations, Harold was gone forever and now we rely on the Times for India for our scoops.

You nailed it.  The poster(s) that potentially outed him were “Downtown Brown” and “ChicagoSoxMan”.  He accused Harold of being Garrett Guest, the Sox current Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting and owner of South Oak Jeep Dodge Ram Chrysler.  Both accounts are gone now but were likely the same person as you said.  Dude absolutely loved his Jeeps.  I assume that’s why he was always trolling Harold about owning and driving Jeeps, but maybe he figured out Harold’s identity because he bought one from him?  🤣

I have lots of thoughts on this. I know who Harold was and they don't work for the team. He/She obviously knows people who do. Harold's info was always very, very solid. The stuff that was shared publicly and the stuff that wasn't was even more accurate. He was an asset to this board. Garrett Guest isn't posting on this board but if he's one of the ties, I wouldn't be totally surprised obviously based on some of the info that Harold shared at times. The whole thing was weird.

On Jeremy Haber, he was running the draft at the end. The Sox were focused on Blake Mitchell who went #8 overall to Kansas City. Regardless of that, I'd heard all day that they wanted to take a prep hitter in the first round. In hindsight, they would've taken Teel had he fallen. From what I understand, Haber overruled the room to take Jacob Gonzalez at 15 and save $$ money for later. The Sox did turn around and draft Wolkow, Oppor, Lacombe etc but there were obviously better ideas at 15.

The other thing that is hilarious about keyboard warriors defending Haber's honor is that his existence is what spawned the White Sox burner food accounts. Not Cishek always had pretty good info because the person running that account got information from someone very close to Haber from what I understand. Then the burner accounts would all share info with each other etc. Basically, I have some wild DM's but I'd need to go digging.

Something that always came to my mind regarding Garrett Guest - is his position as Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting a part time gig or something? How does he have time to run a dealership AND have a big position on a major league team?

That just triggered PTSD over the real Steve Cishek experience....that was one awful free agent bullpen addition.

If they trade Robert, there's really not much better alternatives. And if he is terrible, so what cut him and try something else.

Thanks Jimmy.

Harold shared with me he does work in baseball but not for the White Sox. Hope that changes some of this shitting where you eat narrative.

Baldwin in CF, Peraira in RF (127 wRC+ in AAA), & Peters in LF (107 wRC+) would be a far better alternative.

I guess? None of those options are inspiring in the least so saying far better seems like a bit of a stretch.

He was banned that same day because of the attempt to dox Harold.

Without the context of Garrett Guest, the Jeep stuff was just weird. Once that detail came out, it was clear that it wasn't some Jeep-themed trolling, so he was promptly banned.

Yes.  I think most people were laugh emojiing at Downtown Brown’s posts because of his strange obsession with Jeeps but no one had actually tied it to Harold (and allegedly Garrett Guest) until he directly stated it finally.

It’s a family business.  His father is the VP and they are co-owners.  They have an entire staff running the day-to-day operations.

As bad as Benintendi is, Kelenic is a downgrade.

Yeah, it’s a nice pickup for nothing and I wouldn’t be opposed to Kelenic in LF to see what he might do if you could dump Benintendi’s contract, but salary be damned, Benintendi is better than Kelenic.

Thanks for sharing James and love that Haber / foodie stuff.

Work him out with Fuller, play the s%*# out of Kelenic in Spring Training, and maybe he makes the team. But yeah, 10-D is a league average hitter. Kelenic is a little better than you and me at this point.

He might have a decent enough spring to be your placeholder until Montgomery. He might suck and may never even be mentioned again.

Yeah, a Kelenic/Pereira platoon may hold RF, and Baldwin plays LF, or vice versa.

Kelenic did have a 2.1 bWAR in 2023 with the Mariners.  That would be amazing and better than any season Benintendi has had with the Sox.  But yeah, two seasons have passed since then.

I just mostly saw posts whenever Kelenic hit a bomb since he was such a player of contention on this board.  It looks like he has played every outfield spot in his short career thus far.  Anyone with good knowledge on Kelenic’s defense care to share some insights?

Looking at FanGraphs, he seems to be a bit below average the last 3 years.
