No idea why you pick up the option if this is the return. A best-case bullpen guy and a 4th outfielder? Bleh.

Because they would have had to pay him $2 million if they didn't pick it up. With this, you pay nothing and you get a couple of bad lottery tickets back.

The return is awful, yet, it’s still better than nothing.

The whole league knew Getz had to trade Robert, and apparently after the big splash,  knew the Sox were also broke.  Worst Poker Player, Ever.

Give him every chance to be your center fielder. Much more valuable to the Sox than being another utility player.

Meh. It should be an open competition between a lot of post hype prospects. Frankly, Pereira has been a lot better in the minors than Acuna. We are returning to the Tilson, Ryan Cordell era of truly sucky Sox outfielders. Brooks Baldwin is now the trusted veteran of the bunch.

I'd rather them pay the $2 mil. These guys are likely just 40 man dead weight.

Ronald Acuña is a free agent in a few years (as long as options get picked up). We’re just back on the friends and family plan trying to bring him in at the time.

Hopefully in a few years JR is gone, Getz is fired, and this organization is finally run like a real baseball team.

This is JR we’re talking about here, you think he’s just going to give away $2 million when they can dump all of it for nothing?

I’m interested to hear from all the people who said they had money to work with and they wouldn’t carry such a low payroll. You have to imagine if that were true they don’t make this trade.

Should have traded him after 2023 when the plug got pulled. What a colossal blunder. Never in a million years would I have thought he would end up in an awful salary dump trade one day.

No, actually, they should have extended Robert after 2023 for 20 years at $40M per. Prove me wrong.
