At what point do we start to believe?

White Sox now 12th in position player fWAR at 4.7 with a 100 wRC+. The defense is surging, now 15th in RAA at -6.1. Pitching wise we are 3.5 fWAR good for 16th.

Sox are 8th in xwOBA and 11th in walk rate. Last year they were 17th in walk rate and 27th in xwOBA.

Right now this is a legit mediocre team with several young or still in their prime players contributing. Do I believe? Eh, I believe they are playing like a 78-82 win team, which is a massive improvement and should make for a fun summer watch. The pitching will regress, but the offense should stay around league average after Teel and Montgomery join, even with some regression from others.

Agreed. I think some of the offense will take a step back, BUT I think that'll be off-set by Teel and others maybe continuing to surge.

The pitching on the other hand feels like smoke and mirrors.

Your 2026 Chicago White Sox.....We no longer suck!!! And for now, that is enough to stay in the Central race way deeper into the season than I thought. They have been way more watchable since Colson

You probably use your phone for Soxtalk where the banner doesn't show up. On a laptop or desktop PC it's right there at the top like it's always been with Moncada, Giolito, Robert, Anderson and Jimenez as if this was still 2021.

Well if it still has the old 2021 crew I guess Im just glad I havent had to look at it.

Yea we're 22rd in xERA, 25th in xFIP and 23rd in FIP. We are 18th in ERA with a solid but not elite defense. We are pretty mediocre in most underlying pitching metrics but we do stand out as 12th in avg 4 seam velocity at 94.9.

The Sox seem to have some sort of juice org wise in developing SP and getting the most out of mediocre arms. Not sure it's sustainable but they finished 22nd in pitching fWAR last year with talent that was by any standard bottom 5 in the league staff wise.

It's very obvious that most people have changed their perspective because of the misery of the past few years. I will not allow this organizations incompetence to re calibrate my personal expectations, but you do you!

I also like the people who try to constantly validate their own choices by declaring they only watch "good" TeeVee shows or listen to "good" music, like they're afraid of being criticized for liking weird things, or in your case, being a chump for following a loser team. I understand those of you who are so insecure you need to lash out at those of us who like to watch the team get built and grow into a competitive outfit. When you get older, other people's opinions won't matter to you as much.

We start to believe if the Sox are still within a couple two tree games at the end of July.

My guess is they will hit a few injuries to pitchers and fall back pretty significantly at some point before then, but will still win 75ish games.

The Sox had the 3rd most wins in the 90's in baseball. No fan in the 90's was happy when the Sox were fighting for .500.

We were a proper franchise at one point. Hard to pinpoint when the decline started but I think failing to make the playoffs in 2006 was a blow. Letting the org stagnate in the aughts period between then and 2015 in analytics, scouting and LA/Pacific investment put too much pressure on a mediocre FA budget and the draft. And while we've drafted OK, we've pretty much completely struck on on FA before Mune and obviously LA has been a disaster and still seems like it is.

I’ll believe once Jerry no longer owns the team. In the meantime, I will dread having to watch Getz try to deal with the Murakami situation next season.

From the guy who spends all day not sufficiently praising the Sox enough. Again, take your own advice.

@Look at Ray Ray Run never called anyone (or Cali) a “chump for following a loser team”. He stated his own expectations about the team and said “you do you”, which is basically saying that people can have differing opinions and expectations of the team than him. You don’t need to put words in his mouth. We can all read his quote and see that he did not say what you responded with. Also, your entire response disproves the last sentence of your post. You obviously care.

I'm trying to figure out why they haven't called up Wikelman Gonzalez, it's not like he's the type of prospect that you try and get as many years as possible from by letting him rot in the minors

June 1st.

By then we will have played some good teams and had a good stretch on in divison games. If we’re hanging around or if we’ve created separation by then - it’s time.

I only watch entertainment that is actually trying to entertain me. That's my personal rule. Not sure what else youre going on about.

My time is too valuable and limited to spend it on products consistently that don't even try to entertain me, when that's their job.

It has nothing to do with what others think. I stopped caring what others thought long before old age, my friend!

Never thought the Sox lineup would come together this fast. We really need another starter ASAP.

Reinforcements:
+Teel 1 week?
+Hays 2-3 weeks?
+Pereira 2-3 weeks?
+B. Monty 1-2 months?

Wildcards:
Ben Peoples (Dominating AAA)
Wikelman Gonzalez (Dominating AAA)
Tanner McDougal
Hagen Smith
Shane Smith
Jonathan Cannon
Drew Thorpe
Ky Bush
Prelander Berroa

Not sure on the timeline of Thorpe, Bush, and Berroa, but I think they are all expected to return this year.

Did I miss anyone?

Also - we are finally going to see more divisional matchups. 10 games the remainder of May and 12 next month. We've only had one 4 game series against the Royals so far. If we are still in the thick of it June 1st I will be a 100% believer.

Yeah, last night Ian Eskridge hinted that he had heard Adams may have added velocity recovering from TJS.

Psh, phone? I haven't had access to Soxtalk on my phone since like February. Absolutely blows.

A chump by any other name .. How about sheep or that we should be embarassed ? Maybe do some long research into his posts 1st before you defend someone but you do you.

I have to not use Wifi or use my PC to get Soxtalk. Have to change my settings on my phone constantly turning Wifi on and off. Off for Soxtalk on for everything else.

That would be awesome, although the command might take some time.

My only guess would be that they are prioritizing guys who aren't going to come up and walk a bunch of guys. That's without looking at any stats . There could be other things involved too like how they respond to coaching or if they fit into the I support my teammates culture.

Same! The only way I can get on is during the work day on my laptop lol

They gotta fix it. Ever since the update. My Soxtalk consumption down like 1,000%.

I jumped the gun on laptop since I don't own a laptop figuring it's just about the same as a desktop computer which is where I see it. I thought if you use a tablet you might not see the banner also since it's more like a phone.
