The problem is that it isn't that the ump is awful, it's that they have to be drug out as the "female" ump. Talk about her skill all you like, but dragging out her gender with it is crap. No one ca

Blonde Sox girl put a curse on him and the Cubs. PCA needs to publicly apologize to her and they need Pedro Cerrano to perform his voodoo ritual.

I initially believed the BS that she said things about his mother. (I really don't think women will say s%*# about a dude's mother.) It comes out she may have said he sucked, and his response was way disproportionate. That team still has a pretty potent lineup, but their entire pitching staff's in the sick bay. They should learn from Chris Getz how to build orginasational pitching depth.

I thought the kid was supposed to have a wet noodle for an arm. Prospect scouting reports were a lie, or other teams think he can pick up a ball at the wall and have a problem making a throw to the outfield grass.

Venable did not have a good game with the bunt with 2 strikes, and this lack of aggressiveness not sending Antonacci to steal. It was likely that the Twins would not have even attempted a throw to second, afraid that Acuna would score from third. I would award Venable the Pedro Grifol Memorial Award tonight.

Need to sweep lowlife teams like the Twins. American Loser Central

There’s nothing she could have said that should have even elicited a response from him. Many fans are drunk and say stupid things. I believe the rumor is that she called him “PC-Triple A”, which is actually pretty witty and funny if true.

But he’s supposed to be a professional player making millions. Ignore her. Instead, he told her something like “suck my d*ck, you f*cking b*tch”. What a weak-minded wimp.

Not even some of the all-time greats could throw home on the fly from the outfield wall to nab a runner tagging at third. What Rikuu has done is insane.

Sox have a better team today than the Cubs , particularly pitching and offense. Cubs have a better defense, but the Sox has good core of young, hungrier, skilled players, while the Cubs have a bunch of highly payed older players underperforming. IMO.

yet the Cubs are 3 over .500 and that is good for last place in their division

that's wild

Those are fighting words.

I feel bad about this loss. We had this game in the 10th. Venable should have sent Sam to second and Acuna home. Venable left that game on the table and the Twins took it. I have disliked the Twins for decades. I was all set to grab victory from the hands of defeat.

the same could be said of the White Sox whoever they play

It would be different if the Sox were 10 over .500

Nooooooooooooooo

At least PCA is still a national punchline atm.

Call me crazy but did I miss the strong arm display? He definitely made two nice throws to nab runners at the plate the past two games but they were both one hop throws from shallow right field, no where near the outfield wall.

From the wall?

I was confused by that comment as well. I just posted videos of both of his throws home in the past two games in my previous post. They were both one-bounce throws from shallow right field — virtually identical throws. Both were definitely nice throws but I don’t think they are any indication that he has a strong arm.

Cmon guys. Cubs fans overrate their players. Not us!

Roberto Clemente did it. Rikuu was the Japanese Clemente in this series.

Yes, it's a loss. No one's an idiot. Sometimes things just don't go the way we want them to. And regarding Sam Antonacci, I'll just offer this:

(Full Disclosure: I'm Sam's great-uncle, so it's certainly fair to factor that bias into the following.)

1) Bottom of 1st, Sam leads off with a hit-by-pitch, steals second, and is then completely stranded out there by all three of "the big boys" in the 2, 3 and 4 slots. How nice would it have been to have that run?

2) Bottom of 10th, Sam gets an infield single to move ghost runner Acuna over to third with only one out. We all know what happened after that, unfortunately, but we need to at least give him credit for setting the stage for the possible walk-off win.

3) On the unfortunate inning-ending double play, it looked to me like Sam, being behind the first baseman, had no line of sight to tell whether Mune's low liner was caught on the fly, or on a short hop. I have no clue what his "best move" would have been in that split-second, but under the circumstances I don't think it's fair to classify the actions he took as "being an idiot on the bases."

4) Tomorrow's a brand new day, and this will all be a distant memory! Go Sox!

Roberto Clemente and Vladdy Daddy Sr. could legitimately do it from the wall. Rikuu cannot.

Gelding should be part of the protocols for umpires.

Back to the Hall of Fame List you go. Boy, second chancers have not lasted long.

Go figure.

I'm just amazed at how wild PCA is. I know we're seeing cherry picked videos on Twitter, but the dude cold probably stand to have a good week of solid, defensive games.

Has his defense been bad lately?

He has been hit or miss. I believe he has botched two big plays since the infamous Sox game, but everything is being magnified more since he messed with blonde Sox lady. Both botch videos are probably posted in the PCA thread.

WE likes his umpires to be eunuchs apparently. Huge Lord Varys fan from Game of Thrones.

  1. Welcome to Soxtalk

  2. As a life long Sox fan who has seen generations of this team spanning nearly half a century, Sam has been my favorite player so far this season.

So happy he is on our team and I’m hopeful that he will be a Southsider for many years to come.

Congrats to the kid, he deserves it and I’ll be rooting for him along with you for his career.
