Schultz still with knee pain….don’t like how that’s trending at all

Knowing the Sox training staff, it’s probably a torn meniscus or some other undiagnosed injury.

Kinda wish it was something that could be easily fixed. Having the same injury derail your season two straight years is not promising.

I have a feeling he's not coming back soon. From the Sun-Times:

• Left-hander Noah Schultz isn’t scheduled to throw another bullpen session as he recovers from tendinitis in his right knee.

“No decision on that,” Venable said. “There’s still some soreness in there, so they backed off to give him a little bit of a blow and then ramp back up.”

makes me think it's how he's landing on his knee, there are videos last year when he was in Charlotte showing that when he lands, he has a tendency to twist that front (right) knee after the follow through

Anyone ever think that having 3 100 loss seasons give you the luxury of not hurrying back players?

This is how I misread the quote as. 😆

With how truly awful Antonacci has been off lhp, Pereira would be a good guy to get back. When he’s ready, does Acuna go? Or Rikuu? One of them is out of options.

Excellent news and thanks for sharing. I remain fairly optimistic on Pereira outside of the durability concerns.

I honestly struggle with who should be demoted. I had been saying Acuna for a while, but I kind of feel like we are exposed a bit right now against LHP. As such, I may swap out Rikuu for Periera. This is a good opportunity to give Pereira some run against both LHP & RHP and see how he does.

Unless Derek Hill has some residual pain that makes him almost unplayable, I would think Rikuu is the one to go with Pereira comes back.

Seems to make some sense. Acuna might survive longer than expected given all the injuries.

Acuna will come in as a pinch runner and score the winning run to win round 1 of the playoffs....book it.

Missed Charlotte, lol

Pereira got 3 ABs and 5 innings of RF in Charlotte.

2 Ks and a 106mph line drive single

Fantastic news. How long do you think he’ll be in Charlotte for if all goes well?

so much for the "3" part of "3 to 6 weeks" estimate

Sox will be lucky if he plays more than 4 weeks this year

That dovetails with Getz's quote from last week where he said he expects Teel back around the same time as Muni.

another reason why I think drafting Vahn Lackey would be perfectly fine, it's not like Kyle Teel is a guarantee at this point, if they think Lackey is the BPA, take him no matter what

As crazy as it sounds, I think Acuna has earned his way onto this team. He’s been hitting better of late and is a game changer on the bases. He’s also pretty solid defensively. I think he serves more of a purpose than Nishida.
