Maybe that's the point, I unno but they've done pretty well recently on judging this stuff so I'm going to hold judgment.

I have no qualms about the move. Ive never been much of a believer in a team rushing a guy and ruining him. All big leaguers will struggle at some point in their professional career. How they adjust to that differentiates those who succeed from those who dont. Im skeptical that the timing of that challenge matters much.

  • How many more times does @ron883 have to be vindicated? First with the prediction of Sam Antonacci's (The Chairman of the Board's) greatness. Now the Braden Montgomery call up. I'm sure there's more I

  • So cool, I befriended one of his family members before the draft and it’s the nicest family ever.

Ron super mad I was right back in November about this. Look at this Johnny-come-lately looking for valor that is stolen

Signing Austin Hays was a good idea. But this dude has even been more hurt this year than in years past. Good thing we didn't even really need him. See ya.

Also goodbye to Nishida.

Grichuk has been great in essentially the same role

Absolutely. He's the last person that needs to go right now.

I wouldn't but I'm just like that. But even though his GB and K rates are high, he's hitting the ball hard, taking walks and some of those hard hit GB are going through the infield. Plus he's getting to pitches on the outside half now much better than he was.

Being on the safe side would be saying you expect him not to succeed right away. But just to clarify, how much time until you think he adjusts ? Right away seems like a very short period (like 1 day ) unless you define it as some reasonable length before you think "right away" will be over .

Id be very surprised if he was league average offensive player this year. I'll go a step further and say I'd be surprised if he was better with the bat than Benetendi has been so far (95 ops+).

That said, he's a great athlete and maybe he plays up to the competition and adjusts quickly. Wouldn't be the craziest thing to happen.

Yea I don't know what purpose Hill serves. Seems like a good clubhouse guy but can't hit a lick.

He has a 119 wRC+ against LHP this year and a 116 wRC+ for his career. He should be Peters’ CF platoon partner as he’s the perfect complement. He also has role player value as a defensive substitute and pinch runner. Don’t see why we are eager to rid of him.

Hays is technically playable against RHP whereas Grichuk is a platoon only guy. But with Antonacci, Peters, & Braden your starting OF against RHP, Hays’ ability to be league average against them is far less important.

Too agressive in my view.

He's been on a heater the last week. He reached in 10 straight ABs. He's also 23 and was a college kid. He has 775 MILB plate apperances. When is the appropriate time to bring him up? Is he going to be worse then what's been out there the last month plus? If he struggles you can always send him back down.

He's just a platoon bat tho against LHP and we have a better one (Grichuk) of those. If Acuna is on the roster he's the backup CF. They don't seem to trust Hill that much in CF, so he's superfluous with Grichuk imo.

I'd cut Acuna personally but it seems like they aren't going to do that.

I know almost everyone wants them to go for it the rest of the way, but I love the idea of getting BMont experience in 2026 so he’s ready to go when baseball resumes next year. This year has been a great surprise, and it feels like the timeline to contend has moved up from 2028 to 2027.

The yankees without judge are beatable. The guardians are beatable if we handle business with them. What team in the AL is that good this year??

I understand Sandlin going back down but if we thought he struggled…

Mariners have underachieved to this point but should be a 90 win team on paper. Cleveland feels solid to me. Yankees are very good. Rays are good. No elite teams but there's a few good ones. Texas has been playing well I'd put them into a similar pool as the Sox, probably not a real contender but could threaten 86 wins if everything goes right, so a 2nd WC type team.

Felt like not being able to make that play (granted a tough play) yesterday was the end of Nishida. Can't be a 4th OF without absolute elite defense as a slap hitter. That might be his only taste of MLB in his career but at least he got it.

didn't expect him to be late on 91-92mph fastballs

How so? 23 years old slashing .314 / .422 / .970 between AA-AAA

K and BB numbers nearly identical from AA and AAA. What more is there to do in AAA?

Yea I expected more from him based on the scouting reports. He was overmatched even against mediocre RHP. Fun guy, fun story, not a MLB at the moment and probably never is.

If he wasn’t hitting, I think he would be an easy choice. But he has been lately.

Nah he's still an easy choice, they just wont eat the money even though you have to pay him either way. The last 2 games he's batted 3rd and has been pinch hit for in both games. Ridiculous. I would love to know how many times in all of MLB this season has a teams 3rd batter been pinch hit for. Gotta be really rare unless you're the Chicago White Sox.

A light hitting DH only who is literally unplayable against LHP. He's hurting the rosters overall flexibility.

Isn’t this just what happens to the majority of these slappy, zero pop players like Madrigal? Meidroth looks like Babe Ruth next to this guy.

Bat Speed 61.7 mph, that will never play in the big leagues

Sure seems like it.

Grichuk can’t or at least should not be playing CF. Hill is a great defense CF. He put up 8 DRS and 5 OAA over 330 innings in CF last year. I think having two RH outfield bats is very important given the rest of the roster construction and I three works if you plan to use one at DH against LHP. I also think Acuna will eventually get demoted once more guys come back.

It’s painfully obvious he’s not strong enough to be a big leaguer

Get him some Nugenix.

Acuna is out of options. If you want to demote him, you gotta DFA.

he was sitting on breaking balls almost every AB, his BA on breaking balls was over .300, low .200's on FB
