I feel like trading Quero now would be selling him at his absolute lowest value. Gonzalez I could definitely see, though I don’t know if his current slump would create skepticism for other teams looking at him.

His slump ended the day after your post:)

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Gonzo can go back down to Charlotte and stop his arb clock once Mune is back. That's fine. He just got a nice pay pump for 6 weeks or whatever and now he knows he close he is and what he has to contin

Yeah, f*** no to that! One Bowden is bad enough when it comes to trade ideas, but two clearly is beyond stupid.

Unless Jerry is insisting on them picking up these contracts, that is an absurd price. I feel like as perennial sellers for the last few years, we always see the rumors about prices, and then for guys who aren't top tier guys, we always end up disappointed.

Sending out 10 expected WAR at pre arb prices to get Chapman and Gray is stupid. We'd be on the hook for something like 30 million including the Gray buyout, and Chapman has a 15 million dollar option that I believe according to spotrac is guaranteed as long as he passes a physical at the end of the year.

For taking on all that salary relative to the performance we should be giving up a couple lotto tickets and Adams, not including Carlson and Fauske.

With the Dodgers willing to trade some of their big time prospects for middle infield or catching prospects, it will be interesting to see if Bonemer would be a potential flip for a true outfield prospect like Sirota.

A rare trade but one that might make sense especially if Roch is the guy.

Could Quero get us someone? What about Jackson Ferris? Two prospects with dimmishing shine.. Unless you think he's got the YIPS.

I'd keep Quero. You never know with a young talented catcher how long it might take for the light to go on, especially after a big swing change and body transformation in his early 20s. We gave up on Flowers too early, hate to see the same with Quero and he goes on to put up 12 WAR somewhere else.

He's a backup here. He will have more value to us elsewhere.

Even if he recovers, he only starts 60-70 games a year. (No Teel and Quero can't alternate at DH)

We're one injury to teel to being down to lee and romo as the catchers. that's a downside risk we don't need. as bad as quero is, imagine lee hitting 150/180/250 over 30 games with Romo the starter.

I mean, you could say that about a lot of players. Injuries happen, but i certainly don't hold a player that may have value just to hold him for "maybe someone gets injured sometime".

Also.. If the injury is so bad and long that Lee or Romo can't handle it for a month or so, then go sign or trade for some vet.. Keep in mind, Teel missed a lot of time already and we survived fine already with 2 bad catchers (Romo and Quero).

We have an entire minor league team at AAA full of guys who exist only to replace an injured player. Right now, Quero is a backup whose production is about 62% worse than league average. So what is it you think you're going to get for him? Romo was a former first rounder and was free. Joey Bart was an overall #2 pick and was free a couple of years ago. Quero isn't plug and play. He's stow and fix. Nobody has time for that in the next two months if they're angling for the playoffs, and 3-4 guys like him will be bouncing around the waiver wire over the winter and end of spring training.

Last year, the Rays and Dodgers swapped backup catchers. The Rays sent a couple arms over to the Dodgers in the deal, one might be interesting.

Yea… fucking b****. 🤬😆

With the Reds struggling so much, I could see Lodolo being someone the Sox have trade interest in. Fits their mold for lefty pitcher and has another year on his deal.

It would have to be for someone controllable like that, but I also wouldn’t want to give up much else. Once a prospect shows they can succeed in the majors the entire valuation calculus changes. I think we’re starting to see Jacob isn’t smoke & mirrors because of Truist Field. I’d really like to avoid trading him regardless.

I feel like he's bound to be traded at some point with all our middle infielders. I would love to be wrong and him develop into a legitimate power threat. What's your ideal scenario for him - taking over at 2nd?

I wonder what they do with him when Mune returns. Platoon with Meidroth at 2nd?

Honestly, I’m not sure yet. If Benny goes down the road, DH is an option. 2B is also a possibility. I’m just not eager to move him simply because he’s “blocked” at the moment. Guys get injured all the time and he’s an insurance across the entire infield and at DH. I think trading him now is likely selling him low. Even a little bit of major league success would catapult his value come the offseason.

Beni should be gone after this year so having him be able to slot in at DH or super sub for 4/5 games a week against Righties makes a ton of sense. Also there will bound to be injuries

Where would we be without Gonzalez? Vargas at 1b, CM at 3rd, Meidroth at SS and I guess Antonacci at 2b. Whoever in LF? No thank you. Thank goodness for the depth. And we may need it tomorrow.
As it is, Gonzalez is a better defender at first than Mune. 1B/DH should be Gonzalez/Mune or vice-versa going forward. Gonzalez could spell some other IFs once a week too. It's Benintendi who is really the odd man out (but he's been doing well, so I have no impending desire to move him).

Detmers has been one of those underachieving types, who's having a great year. Is it a one-off career year, or has he figured things out? I'd rather the sox go after Urena, but either one would cost something that would hurt.
And really, the really don't need any hole-pluggers (such as an innings-eater starter) that can be had for a low-ceiling prospect.

Overall, Sox have some depth. But I don't see an abundance (other than perhaps lefty middle relief) or anyone really blocked.

We’re simply not in the position to sell high on anyone really. I don’t know how you’re a rebuilding team and can be selling low.
