I thought I heard Chuck say on the post-game show that the Sox have the 4th lowest output offensively for catching in the history of baseball.

That can't be right, mind-boggling.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

I'm pretty disinterested in Detmers for what his cost is likely to be. One season of 100+ IP with < 4 ERA in his career, so the upside is limited. And for folks who are worried about Martin's recen

Okay with trading Carlson. Would be upset if they traded Caleb.

While I would trade neither Bonemer nor Carlson this July (except perhaps for Miller, if projected as a starter going forward), I would trade Bonemer first. I would not trade Carlson. I've shifted on this.

  1. Bonemer would bring more in return. He is higher ranked, closer to the majors. He should bring a ton.

  2. We already have Bergolla (who could be traded too) and Roch close to the majors. C

  3. Carlson is an elite defender. The best of the best. It would be great to have that and we need it.

  4. I think Carlson has a higher ceiling, if they can fix his swing hitch.

Didn't realize that. That...really bad.

Sox also want a catcher. Obviously.

This is interesting to me. I know Quero has been bad but what catcher can they obtain that would/should be much better than Quero, assuming Quero hits his way out of his slump? Seems like it would be an expensive price to pay.

Fixing Carlson’s swing is a massive question mark. Bonemer is going to be a stud hitter in the majors. Carlson may have a higher theoretical ceiling simply due to how good his defense, but the odds of him achieving it are significantly less than Caleb doing so.

I also don’t think “infield defense” is a massive need when you have Roch at SS, Colson at 3B, Chase at 2B, & Vargas at 1B. That’s a damn good defensive infield.

What would be an expensive price to pay? Quero has been terrible this year and hasn’t shown any signs of breaking out of his funk. Seems like that will need to be an offseason project.

Maybe he can try Driveline

I would really hate trading a velocity-bumped Mason Adams for a rental catcher

We kind of need a Mason Adams at the moment. Would be strange if we traded him for a rental catcher than we need for 2 months.

Offensively Stephenson makes a lot of sense since he doesn’t have huge splits either way and can pair with what we have currently or Teel if he comes back.

I could see Mason getting traded, but moreso for a SP with control.
