Just a thought exercise, but if you could pull these two trades off would you:

Trade #1:

  • CWS get: RHP Mason Miller

  • SDP get: SS Billy Carlson, RHP Tanner McDougal, IF William Bergolla, OF George Wolkow

Trade #2:

  • CWS get: LHP Reid Detmers

  • LAA get: LHP Hagen Smith, C Edgar Quero, 2B Javier Mogollon

YesYes to trade 2. Can't see even a new GM taking Quero back as the secondary piece, though.

No to trade 1.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

I'm pretty disinterested in Detmers for what his cost is likely to be. One season of 100+ IP with < 4 ERA in his career, so the upside is limited. And for folks who are worried about Martin's recen

No, I wouldn't trade my top prospects at their lowest possible value especially when we literally just drafted them 1 and 2 years ago.

Who would you trade for a SP? Mason Miller is a luxury that we probably can’t afford without giving up Bonemer. But we have to add a SP…you prefer going the rental route?

I'm curious what the Giants would give up in return for your first package. I want Webb and Ray.

but what if you got a pitcher with a career 5 ERA in return?

How does Wikelman have "real trade value?" An ERA over 5 with a 1.333 whip in the minors.

Guy provides thoughtful 40 man roster crunch analysis and comes up with a solid list of trade candidates and your response is to nitpick one piece of it? Lol, youre such a know it all

Wouldn’t do number 1, think I’d be ok with number 2

Would do #2 if I had to choose.

Because he was awesome before his injury (2.33 ERA | 12.86 K/9 | 3.21 BB/9 | 1.00 WHIP), has big time stuff, and has a 73rd percentile xwOBA in AAA despite playing half his games at Truist Field. Him having a couple of bad appearances while coming back from injury doesn’t change my evaluation of him.

There are tons of minor league relievers who have good stuff and poor command that holds them back.

It was a question about the list he provided. That's how people communicate on forums, they see something and ask for clarification.

Maybe you should go create another user name instead of policing responses that ask simple questions.

with the Angels wanting a young catcher, I’m all about sending Quero back to them

That’s what got me to come up with that proposal. Ideally you hold Edgar into next year and hope he can rebuild some value, but a lot of our potential chips will require trading them low and Edgar as short side platoon backup catcher is fairly replaceable. I’m definitely open to moving him.

His command was noticeably better pre injury. Again, no guarantee he works out as minor league relievers are highly risky, but I think he’s got some value and could be used via trade to help improve the major league roster. I obviously put him last because he has far & away the lowest value of the guys listed.

Mason Miller would be a stupid ass use of resources and is the sort of move you make when you're at like 94 on the win expectations and have a starting staff ready to dominate the playoffs.

It is not a move you make with this 2026 Sox team.

I agree…but the thought of Miller & Taylor available for the 8th & 9th is beyond interest AF.

I have KW and Hahn PTSD. I'm totally expecting us to overpay for someone who will underperform while shipping out prospects that will fill holes on some other team as ones open on our roster.
