Torens is amazing defensively. But I don't think he'd fix our hitting issues at the position.

Very positive CERA too.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

It’s still amazing that this team had two top catcher prospects and two additional catchers with decently hyped prospect status at one time in Lee and Romo and now the team needs a catcher.

I know the D'Backs are right in the WC Race, but curious if James McCann could probably be acquired at a pretty low cost. Spend real capital on pitching, but McCann wouldn't be a terrible rental.

I haven't done a deep dive but not sure why more people aren't in on Brady Singer. Since June 1, he's started 9 games, 52.1 innings, 17 earned runs (2.92), k/walk 52/16.

Guy will cost very little and offers good upside imo. Could package him and Stephenson and probably not have to give up anyone in the top 10 (post-draft). Would still leave plenty for another pitcher or two.

Yeah I saw he struggled a bit in the beginning due to trying to pitch with a blister.

We are officially one week out from the trade deadline. The Sox themselves will be busy with seven straight games against the Yankees & Rays and that’s with no off days. Short of a massive blow-up this coming week, I think the motions are already in order for Getz to be an aggressive buyer.

Two items of interest here. First, there is a roster move coming today and it will be Hays or Pereira replacing Junior Perez as RH hitting outfielder. Hays is on the 60 Day IL so if it’s him getting the call, then he’ll push our 40 man roster to the full amount. If it’s Pereira, we won’t run into that situation just yet. Either way, we can’t keep both of them and Grichuk, meaning one of them will be let go in some form over the next week.

Second, the trade for Urquidy also had a roster implication. While I fully expect him to be just AAA depth as we shift McDougal & Hagen to relief roles to end the season, it does add to the roster crunch. Drew Thorpe is the one guy on the 60 Day IL who looks like they will need to come off before season end. It’s also possible that Hagen, Mason Adams, or even Pallette will need to get added. The real crunch will come this offseason, but I’d expect some fat to be trimmed at the deadline.
