Maybe they think they can get more in the offseason? The Reds are also a head scratcher. They have no chance in the NL Central. Maybe a shot at a wild card, but they're so flawed they're not going anywhere in the postseason.

Heck we were in similar positions with Robert, Cease, Crochet and waited for offseason.Angels have/had a lot of good players. Could have an expedited rebuild.

If Mason Adams/Boston Smith got that deal done, I'd like it. Have to think the Cubs would've offered them Rojas though which would've been a deal worth taking. Or maybe not, the Cubs could win the World Series this year and Holmes is strictly better. re: Stephenson, probably some calculus about keeping a guy that fans like and wants to be there and was probably returning a low tier prospect at best. Joey Bart for free is such a better option for the Sox.
