  • You have no clue.

  • I truly think tomorrow they have a shot at turning this into what we will look back on as one of the more special drafts in franchise history!

  • I dunno about you guys but I think it's pretty sweet to be in first place and also have the first pick in the draft.

15 of them will be helping win the 2034 world series. Our fifth in 7 years.

That would be a heck of a way to inaugurate our new stadium in the South Loop. 😉

Or the South Hammond Loop.

I'm intrigued as to whom they think may not sign. Maybe the nameless HS pitcher they fell in love with?

Where are these guys going to play with Colson, Roch and Sam holding down the IF? Big time mistakes.

Unless the new CBA is going to prohibit trades, I'm not going to worry about it.

What is the theory behind taking the college senior in, say, round 8, and using the savings to pay overslot to a prep player in, say, round 12; versus taking the prep player in round 8; and the college senior in round 12.

Can you not use the savings in rounds 11-20 to compensate for overslots in 1-10?

Correct. Rounds 11-20, you get $150 per slot, and that money up to the slot limit doesn't count against anything beyond its own slot. Anything under does not roll over. Anything over counts against total pool.

I assume some facetiousness here; nevertheless, to replace departees, downturns in performance (as we know), injuries (as we know), trade for young players at different positions. Up the middle ballplayers are of extreme high value. And just upgrades.

Also, drafting a player in the 11th round gives you $150k of free slot money. If you pay him $300k, only $150k counts against your pool. If you pay a 5th year Senior a $7.5k bonus in the 11th round, that $142.5k savings is dead, and can't be spent anymore.

Drafting cheaper players in the pool rounds (1-10) gives you extra money to spend overall. If you look at the 2025 draft, the White Sox tried spending every penny they could. They gave out one bonus under $10k in rounds 11-20.

You not knowing this explains a lot.

Solid college numbers, seems like another good addition.

And da Coach will unretire from football to manage them.

This has been a fantastic draft. I may go as far to say the best draft they've ever had. I feel pretty confident the first 3 picks will be big leaguers. That really sets you up to take a lot of risks and go for development potential over floor. They might not have a single big leaguer with picks 4+ but I like they took a bunch of "if" (if x develops they might actually have something).

If a player drafted in the top 10 rounds doesn't sign, you lose the pool money and the pick.

If you draft him round 11 and he doesn't sign, I don't believe that happens. So taking the high schooler who may not sign makes sense in round 11+.

I'm just saying - I remember a certain White Sox player who made the majors the same year they were drafted. Mr Chris Sale.

Dare I say that Roch may follow the same path? Come on up Roch! We need your right handed bat.

I'm old enough to remember when Gordon Beckham was going to be our savior. I stated I'd be happy if he turned out to be as good as Tadahito Iguchi for several years and was laughed at and ridiculed for having such "low" expectations for this "can't miss superstar." He never even came close to being a Tadahito Iguchi.

Poor drafting technique. Where the f*** are all these infielders going to play? Getz lost the plot.

He can rattle off a bunch more names if you'd like.

Beckham and Viciedo could never lay off high fast balls to save their lives...
