White Sox acquiring Joey Bart from ATL

quero will be sent down, not romo

If we can just bring up Quero to hit in walk-off situational AB's against big-name teams, and then not see him any other times, I'd be fine with that.

Though I'd rather see him at the plate than Romo.

Romo is allegedly really good working with our pitchers? Might be his only saving grace.

A kick in the ankle is much better than a kick in the balls. Thank you.

  • People watch Romo bat .100 with no power or walks for months and suddenly you're not happy with a guy who is a little below average at the plate

  • We gave up Duncan fucking Davitt who most people here didn't even know he existed prior to the callup. Literally nothing and improved the catching position.. I get you wanna b**** to b**** but at leas

Bart is fine. Never made sense to trade for a starter (imo) given how high the org is on Teel.

Bart a nice back up catcher.

This is a solid bottom of the roster churn move / upgrade. I really think we will see Bart and Quero up until Teel comes back. This move makes the team better and seeing what went on and where the club is, I really appreciate the way Getz went about the deadline. I can't say I love all of the moves, but just as much, so far they didn't make a move where I think they made a choice that significantly impacts the club in the long run - which absolutely could be the case (see Boston).

So catching position not been improved 1% even though like 5 have been acquired lately. Dumpster 101

This is found money. Anyone within a sniff of replacement level makes the team a lot better. They did it.

Sox pitchers and catchers in sync and on a roll right now. Hopefully, that doesn't get f-ed up! Catchers learning pitchers takes a little while.

This is like a .5 WAR upgrade over the last two months. Not bad.

Something is better than nothing. They at least tried to get some help, I didn't think they'd be able to.

I'm assuming they are done now.

Overall nice they were in a position because of their record to go out and make moves but I think everyone would agree none of the moves move the needle much.

We'll see what happens but I was hoping for more 'impact' additions.

Make him a bullpen catcher.

I think Getz did a good job threading the needle assuming this is it. We gave up some spare pieces and probably improved by about 1.5 expected wins on paper. Bart is a massive upgrade over Quero or Romo. I bet Romo is just DFA and nobody claims him. He might just be back with us one way or another. And of course we can hope that Teal can knock some rust off in September and be ready for the stretch run.

It’s more that was the main spot they could really try to improve the lineup. Let’s face it, anyone is better than Quero and Romo. I was hoping for Stephenson, as he is hitting so well these days.

Oh I wanted to Stephenson, but we don’t know what the price is yet. Maybe it was just too absurd for our blood.

What are you talking about?

Teel perhaps is recovering faster from his injury than first thought which could have played a factor in the process.

Sometimes I also wonder, does this help, even if it is a small amount, give Getz a bit more leverage in his discussion(s) as well.

Drew Romo since May 15th: .126 AVG, .173 OBP, .194 SLG (-0.6 WAR) ... .167 wOBA, .188 xwOBA

Quero since May 15th: .238 AVG, .267 OBP, .310 SLG (-0.1 WAR) ... .254 wOBA, .300 xwOBA

Bart since May 15th: .188 AVG, .316 OBP, .375 SLG (0.2 WAR) ... .313 wOBA, .334 xwOBA

Could absolutely imagine the Sox still in on him. Sounds like Yankees aren’t.

This was the other thought that went through my mind - if they did stay more pat, does that tell us they have good news regarding Teel. With that said, I am skeptical of that given fact that he's really missed the entire season basically.

I'm excited to see anyone in the catcher role that isn't Romo or Quero. Dissapointed they didn't make a bigger upgrade since this is our biggest hole though.

Fegan yesterday made it sound like he isn’t close

I assume they aren't writing Teel off in general, but I'd be surprised and frankly a little disappointed if they were making plans based on confident predictions of Teel playing at a high level this year. I say that as a major Teel booster. It's just been a tough year, even if he was going to return on the fast timeline it would be hard to tell, and if you're a little bit wrong about the timeline you've missed the whole season.

Also I would bet money it is Quero being sent down unless he already has two send downs and would be DFAd, and even then maybe.

Quero has been optioned 1x, and it was this year, and you cannot use multiple options per year.

Still think Romo is the easy DFA. He does nothing well.

Arrivederci Romo. That’s my advice to you. Thanks, Dean Martin.

You can send down a guy multiple times. Unless I’m reading this wrong
