Agreed. IMO he's not a platoon player. Give the kid a chance.

With the three pitchers we have going and as tough as the opponent will be, this feels like a playoff series.

As long as they don't get swept, I'll be satisfied. Then go beat Cleveland.

Maybe Sam will enter the game later and do something good!

One of my goals for him for the rest of the season moving through next spring is that he is able to solidify himself as an indispensable regular who needs no platoon pairing.

Anything is OK except a Red Sox sweep.

That and no injuries.

I’m kind of surprised they’re throwing Doyle right into the fire. Him and Miggy are going to be in the same hitting group in the cage. That kid is going to learn a lot from Miggy.

I’m not expecting much from him for the first couple of weeks but he really could be a sneaky good pickup.

Two years ago...their respective values couldn't have been any more opposite.

Unless it's today.

No team stays as hot as the Red Sox do forever. I feel like it could very well be this series where they come back to earth.

Mets decapitated against CLE at Progressive but at least no Lowe/Adell in the lineup yet.

Monasterio and Durbin have been two of the key Boston leaders...ex Brewers both.

Adell is in the lineup, Lowe is sitting because it's a LH starter.

JRam is out though, day to day with soreness in the wrist/hand he had surgery on.

Maybe LRJ can do us a solid and get hot for the series.

Who sits in that scenario? He's pretty awful against them.

He has only had 66 ABs against lefties so I just feel like you have to get him experience. Yes, he has hit .197 but do you think he is an everyday player? if you do then you have to start batting him vs lefties. Maybe not against the red sox but maybe against some other teams. I feel like he brings so much to the leadoff spot by working counts. He has been hit 6x in 77 plate appearances against leftiesI couldnt find his minor league splits on baseball reference. Maybe next year he will get more opportunities.

I like getting your best hitters out there, Vargas is .224 vs righties and he is out there. Chase went up a decent amount against RHP from last year to this year because he got opportunities

Vargas OPS's .778 against righties. That's why he's out there. Ant-man OPS's .511 against lefties.

I don't think there's an issue with protecting a rookie against tougher match ups for him in the middle of a division race. Eventually he needs to hit against lefties. Also, with the way Will uses his bench, its not like he wont be in the game at some point. Also, left in Fenway is tricky to play especially if you've never been there.

IMO, Venable should almost never bench Antonacci or pinch hit for him. I'm tired of Venable automatically playing split advantages. There is more to consider, especially with a player like Sam-bone.

That's even worse than chairman of the board.

Red Sox come in with an 88 wrC+ against RHP. Lets keep that going.

Wouldn’t that nickname make more sense for Bonemer?

Antonacci has played in 91 out of 95 possible games since he debuted. That includes 9 games off the bench, so he starts more than 90% of the time.

He has started against LHSP more often than he has sat. When he doesn't start, he comes in the game later more often than he stays on the bench.

The kid has had 4 full rest days all season (as a rookie in a new position!) but for some reason every time he's not starting there's this weird panic about him being excessively benched.

He isn't being strictly platooned. It's just that when he sits (which he has to at some point), they target games against LHSP to rest him (and give opportunities to the guys like Grichuk who are actual platoon guys).

I think Red Sox fans are more insufferable than Yankees fans. They are the absolute worst. Part of it is just the Masshole mentality.

1984 Tigers had a nice run, IIRC they started the season 35-5.
