Also, I would like Peters to stop trying to hit homers when he’s batting. Only contribution he’s made since the cycle was when he took the pitch to left center.

Easy to see when Sox are done at Wrigley cubs in first and sox of playoffs.

You don’t think Castillo, Martin and bullpen game can shut down the Cubs?

Another sad non hitting game by Colson and another deer in the headlights night by our manager and an overall dismaying evening on most accounts. Why the hell Venable didn’t have Sam bunt the man over in the tenth is beyond all human conception.

The fact that Luisangel strikes out at a well below league average rate still kinda amazes me. If I was a hitting guy I'd be very interested in working with him in a low stakes environment because there are some serious physical gifts in there. But for the Sox right now constantly needing to put him out there against left-handed starters and not getting anything out of it, they can't really wait around for something to click anymore. If they really believe in him, try to pick some time when you think teams aren't paying attention to the waiver wire and see if you can get him to AAA.

Hudson needs to be held back a bit to fix what ever is going on with him. Hes era has been going up each month. 6 plus era in july

Doesn’t he not strike out a lot because he swings at everything at chops the ball on the infield?

Corner infielders were in expecting a bunt with slow Quero on 2nd.

I can only imagine he thought the odds of Aam getting a base knock were greater than Acuna or Peter’s getting the ball in the air deep enough for a sac fly. I STRONGLY disagree with that bet.

Like, am I having a senior moment or has it been a very long time since we’ve bunted a runner over in extras at home?

Yep, he’s probably their 5th best guy right now

They bunted before Quero homer vs Cubs

You wanted to put the game in Acuna’s hands to get the run in? Our best chance of scoring a run was a hit by Antonacci.

Well it's clear the contact quality is not good, but there's plenty of bad hitters who can't even muster that much contact on the kinds of pitches he often swings at. I'd be telling him to let it rip even more so that the tappers turn into whiffs. Or alternately, bat left-handed so the tappers can be infield hits!

I love Sam, but he failed to get the runner over. Nice AB but with Quero left standing at 2b, that’s a failed AB. Fouled off several cookies.

I’m a strong Will supporter but he’s had a rough couple of weeks. He treats handedness like a religion except one it comes to his favorites. His favorites, aka Grich, is like the last guy you lose your religion for.

I don't think Sam had much of a plan in that at bat. He was just trying to survive. Good effort, but you've gotta do everything you can to pull a ball on the ground there at least. But then again, it's not like the guys after him can be depended on to drive the guy from 3rd in.

You bunt that ball up the 3b line and Quero advances without issue. Hell, even a good pull bunt does the trick.

Correct, was hoping he’d pull the ball into RF corner

I didn't watch all the game...can someone tell me why Chase wasn't available to pinch hit for Blackhole Acuña?

Still can’t think of any logical reason that Meidroth wasn’t running for Quero

Has he/Sam been good at sac bunting???

It seems like they stopped bunting in extras after they traded Hill.

Really wish they kept him around somehow. Braden is starting way too much against lefties.

f*** if I know. He’s an MLB starter who isn’t a power hitter…he sure better be able to bunt men over.
