He's been more than fine in his role this season. Just hasn't met expectations due to the "big" contract. Which really isn't that big in the grand scheme of things.

Well, first of all, nothing is obvious in the current rulebook. The current ruleset is merely did he "offer" at the pitch. But the system they're testing is based on how far the bat head gets out. And in that system, the bat has to go past parallel with the foul line which is like really close to a completed swing compared to what we're used to seeing umpires call.
