8/21 GT. Sox/Mets. 6:40. A Little Less Conversation, A Little More Winning

The King is in the Building. Luis Robert is in the building. Sean Burke is on the bump.

There is no time like the present to get hot.

Mets are hot since clearing house. Can't take this game lightly.

Can't take any game lightly if you want to play in October. Hope for 7 strong from Burke tonight.

Someone posting good music for once. I applaud you, Boner, and thanks for giving me one even though I hardly know you.

Boner Giver is my middle name

Mets are 11-4 since the trade deadline and have some pitchers going this weekend with pretty good ERA's.

The Sox have 35 games remaining. Currently, the division race looks like this:

  • Twins 3.5 back. 34 games remaining, 6 vs. Sox. Sox lead season series 4-3.

  • Guardians 4.5 back. 34 games remaining, 3 vs. Sox. Sox lead season series 6-4.

  • Tigers 5 back, 35 games remaining, 4 vs. Sox. Sox lead season series 6-3.

Let's suppose the Sox finish 18-17 and are able to clinch the head-to-head season series vs. all 3 of these division opponents. The Sox final record would be 84-78. Since they would control all tiebreakers, the other teams would have to get to 85-77 to win the division. That would require those teams to finish with the following record in their remaining games:

  • Twins 22-12

  • Guardians 23-11

  • Tigers 24-11

The Sox are in the driver's seat but not in the clear yet. They basically have to play .500 ball and not collapse vs. one of the division teams head-to-head and they will almost certainly win the division.

Having said that, I think it's really important for the Sox to find their stride over the next 5 weeks and start playing their best ball heading into October. Go out and take this division and build momentum for the postseason. I'm fired up for what's ahead.

Really seems like we catch every team while they’re playing well.

Very true.

Wow! I didn’t know this and really didn’t need to hear it.

Now I’m worried.

I've been anxious about this Burke start. Hopefully he just had a bad day last time and he'll have that pinpoint location on his fastball again. We need you buddy. Also, I hope our crowd is nice to Luis. Let's not forget how he made the cubs pay when they heckled him. Everybody just silently wish for a golden sombrero haha

Is this the worst lineup of the year

Acuna, Doyle, and Rogers all in a row is awful. And they're not even the last 3 hitters in the lineup.

Tonight will be very interesting.

I'd much rather watch Antonacci strike out than watch Grichuk double.

Both in the line-up would be preferable.

"Acuna's revenge"...seems like another tipping point in the season.

So far they have been pretty darned resilient...remaining parked between 2 to 7 games over .500 for what feels like months now.

He definitely needs a breather

Please quiet your anxiety and steward the encouraged faith you are capable of.

Sam against LP 225/326/263

Braden against LP 161/264.290

If the Mets bring in a RP Sam & Braden can come off the bench. Both these guys need to work on this in the off season.
