With our starting pitching it’s really hard to get on any kind of a winning streak, the offense is going to have to gut it out the rest of the way.

The Mets. Since the trade deadline (Aug 1) they’ve gone on an offensive tear — entering play a week ago they ranked tied for 1st in wRC+, 1st in home runs, tied for 2nd in runs, and 1st in OPS across MLB, a total 180 from the punchless offense they had most of the season.

They've been doing this for months. The only sustained run this team went on was in May. But they consistently have bad games like this sandwiched between good games (like last night). So they almost never have big winning streaks and never have long losing streaks either.

We need lots of baserunners here boys. It ain’t over yet. Lots of ball left to play. Perfect time for Psycho Sammy to get it going.

There was a chance that Castillo, Brazoban, and Bart would be good acquisitions. The Doyle trade was ridiculously stupid from the start and never made sense. But Bart got injured quickly and the rest have sucked.
