Last start at Houston was in May and was solid for him. 5.2 innngs and 6ks. 3 runs earned. Has traditionally pitched well at Minute Maid. Kind of surprised he only faced them 3 time with the mariners.

He just needs to walk Alvarez at every opportunity. Guy has a career 1.700 OPS against him in 21 ABS.

Based on the numbers the Sox best hope today may be for Toronto to beat Cleveland. But stranger things have happened so we'll see...maybe they catch a break today.

CBS Sportsline today had their takes on the best and worst trade deadline deals with one month having passed.

The Sox had no one on the best but it certainly had someone on the worst:

The White Sox, though, were betting on Castillo's overall body of work – a very strong body of work for the three-time All-Star. Well, he's been even worse since the trade. After five starts with the South Siders, Castillo has an ERA of 6.45, and he's managed to allow seven home runs in 22 ⅓ innings. Would Castillo crack the playoff roster for the Sox if the postseason began right now? Perhaps not, which isn't what you want from a deadline addition.

Looks like a no-hoper. How long will Venable leave him in to save the bullpen? At least Castillo won't pitch against the Twins.

He faced them 3 times in 2025 alone. He's faced them 10 times with the Mariners with a ERA of 4.07 if Gemini is to be trusted.

I honestly did not even consider Castillo not making the postseason roster... interesting. I don't think Getz would admit that mistake considering we have Castillo for next season too.
