He's hired quality people all helping him make decisions and has 3 players in the starting lineup from 1 trade, Do you actually think he makes decisions in a vacuum ? How many times to you have to hear all their executives saying it's a collaborative effort to believe it ?

Murakami fell into their lap but the Sox could've done like other bad teams and went with the prevailing thought on him. They didn't. The Sox hadn't even been involved in the Japanese market for a Japanese player in 20 years if you don't count Fukodome's time with the Sox since he was already an MLB player.
