And that's a celibacy inspiring White Sox playoff winner!

It's crazy that one of the biggest weaknesses of the season is now one of the biggest strengths in the postseason: The pitching. However, I realize that Venable has been using the pitching staff like a bullpen with the openers, guys throwing to the minimum hitters, starters throwing for a couple innings, etc. Regardless, the pitching has been great.

I feel good about Wednesday. The atmosphere is going to be electric. Pitchers should be rested. Offense is primed to explode. A blowout win would be nice, but I'll take any win.

I don't understand the celibacy bit. Is it something to do with the Pope?

Also Vasil hassled him for the no family thing too because he's got parents. But Vasil doesn't need much to yank your chain.

I'm not THAT surprised, the good thing about the playoffs is you can stop worrying about overuse to some degree. We had a really rough back end of the pitching roster and it would tax our guys. Since July we've had some pretty strong pieces just tough to have stretches of 20 games in 22 days with this kind of roster build and not lose some games.

The only team that truly scares me is the Dodgers. I'm pulling for them to lose.

TB and MIL are the two most difficult teams to beat right now in the playoffs, it's disgusting how well rounded they are from top to bottom, might as well be fielding a team of robots

It got dicey at the end... but finally Cleveland doesn't pull one out of their ass to beat us at the end.

The Yankees are our worse AL match up and they look cooked.

There’s no way this White Sox pitching staff trend isn’t going to get copied on some level. We bass ackwarded ourselves into something good

Playoff baseball has been more and more reliant on bullpens for a while now. The Sox took it to the next level by basically saying lets lean on our strengths as much as possible and play matchups as much of the game as possible.

Since 2024 MLB has been putting it out there that starting pitchers should pitch a certain amount of innings and Max Scherzer said starters should throw 100 pitches. Of course this is all nonsense. But I wouldn't put it past MLB to screw with some rules that punishes a team for utilizing openers . There are a lot of traditionalist still out there.

I took an MLB survery around the All-Star game and there were a few questions about new rules for starting pitchers mostly about if ,as a fan, would I be in favor of it ? I said no because you're trying to cancel the use of analytics to help teams find an edge just like how you outlawed the shift. Plus success with it doesn't mean it can be easily duplicated. I thought there wasn't a chance that Taylor would pitch after one day of rest from going 4 innings. He certainly wasn't as crisp but managed to get some outs on hard hit balls. Ballsy move but if the Sox had lost Venable knew he'd have to shoulder the responsibility for it and went for it !

Pham needs to disappear. As if he hasn’t done enough ridiculously stupid stuff in his career for a reporter to think he was being serious. You don’t get the benefit of the doubt when you are a wacko.

The White Sox on the season are now 88-78. They finally made it to 10 games above .500 .

Yeah, that is flat out embarrassing. How fucking sensitive is that dude?

Vibes are good. Everybody loves this team. No need to create drama with a reporter.

I think Venable and the clubhouse don't care as much as cancel culture does. A HR there makes it easier for the Sox to win. As a player in a team game he knows this and his team mates know it. Haters post about it to actually stay negative bout the good vibes. It's nothing as is usually the case when blowing everything out of proportion and expecting perfection. Some of you seem to be the sensitive ones.

Agreed and reading the story I didn't see anything that Pham could consider unprofessional or trying to get clicks. The story seemed pretty soft and light hearted to me. Just something to lighten the mood.

Pham is not bringing down the vibes of the team. Cmon.

If that team could hit at ALL in the last 7 years they'd likely have a couple world series appearances. They've been top 10 in ERA in 9 of the last 10 seasons, top 5 five times in that span. No top 10 wRC+ placements in the last 10 years, and multiple times finishing 24th or worse.

Imagine if Jose Ramirez didn't give them a huge hometown discount. I remember there were rumors he was gonna get traded to Toronto before he signed the extension. Their offense would have been even worse the past 5 years.

I think what’s really fueling me during this postseason is that the Sox are handling two teams that are and have been their boogeyman teams. Houston was bad for most of the season and they took 5 out of 7 from the Sox, and honestly looked good doing it. Cleveland has been the grim reaper so many times in my lifetime, it’s hard to remember when they weren’t that team.

just an incredible show of a team, they have just figured out the little things on the way of this season, and now it seems like every correct button is being pushed

He dealt with injuries this year and was pretty mediocre, and is gonna be 34 next year. I'm sure he'll bounce back some if he's healthy next year but the days of him carrying that offense are numbered IMO.

The hamate bone injury is clearly limiting him. It affected Beni for a year and a half after he signed with us. He didn't get any semblance of power until the 2nd half of 2024. He got injured at the end of 2022.

I can see the injury limiting Ramirez for part of next year too. By the time he's fully over it, he's probably gonna be 36.

They have put together a nice core of Bazzana and DeLauter, Angel Martinez looks league average-y, then they have this Ralphy Velazquez, 1st rounder, slugging 1B at AAA. And just as I thought Kwan was having a shitty year, dude wakes up and posts 3.8 fWAR.

I know I catch hell for being "pro-Getz" and always looking for the sunny side of the street, but Cleveland's a solid team. We just seem to have a plan for how to attack them on both offense and defense with some surprises. Becoming really patient is like Rocky Balboa becoming a right-handed boxer between fights. Funny how GuardsTwitter is now wondering if Vogt is going to copy the Sox by throwing Cam Smith for multiple innings or redoing his lineup.

Cleveland has a terrible ownership group. They have destroyed goodwill towards baseball in that city.

IIRC, they had a deal essentially done, and that's when Jose caved on the extension to stay in CLE>

In an oddway, this team being in panic mode for the last 6 weeks to 2 months of the season seems to be paying off as they didn't need to adjust to playoff baseball, they were playing it for a while. It will be interesting to see when they finally hit a superior team, instead of another mediocre one, how that plays out.
