December 8, 200817 yr So if this is true, do you think Bailey goes in as a lock for #4, or is he battling with Marquez, Poreda and Richard?
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) My totally inaccurate and spur-of-the-moment Sox starting lineup for 2009 is: 1- Furcal SS 2- Ramirez 2B 3- Quentin LF 4- Thome DH 5- Konerko 1B 6- Abreu RF 7- Fields 3B 8- AJP C 9- Taveras CF That would be a beautiful lineup too, imo. IT would have a nice mix of youth, vets, power, and speed. Plus in a year you can move Abreu to DH if Viceido is ready and slide him into the OF (if Fields has panned out, if Fields hasn't panned out, he takes over 3B and you look to the OF for someone else).
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (tommy @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) C AJP 1B Paulie 2B Getz 3B Fields/Viciedo SS Alexei LF HOLE CF HOLE RF Quentin DH Thome Rotation: Buehrle Danks Floyd Bailey CR/AP Getz is the starting 2B as of today.
December 8, 200817 yr Cowley updates, Dye's agent hasn't heard anything but KW isn't saying anything either. http://twitter.com/cst_sox/status/1044354168
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) How the f*** do we plan on scoring this year? Dude, it's only December 7
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:30 PM) any names or just a hunch? Hunch at this point.
December 8, 200817 yr dude on WSI says rumor says that encarnacion is in on the deal but we may have to pay half JDs salary...take that FWIW...which is probably very little edit: fixed for accuracy Edited December 8, 200817 yr by daa84
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) So if this is true, do you think Bailey goes in as a lock for #4, or is he battling with Marquez, Poreda and Richard? Bailey's gotta be a lock. He's better than all of them.
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 03:30 AM) If the Sox can afford it, I can live with it though I'd rather the Sox move Quentin back to his natural position of RF in hopes that his defense improves from last year. Quentin would no doubt, they wouldn't stick Abreu there over him.

December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 03:32 AM) Dude, it's only December 7 This is a first....someone implying that jphat is being pessimistic.
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 06:31 PM) According to Cowley Jermaine Dye's agent has yet to hear anything about a trade from the Sox and KW isn't talking to the media. I think silence says a lot. I don't think Kenny wants to say anything until it's necessary and right now I believe he's working on something else. It's going to be a real interesting couple days and I think these next few days and this off-season in general (combined with the last two off-seasons) will shape this franchise signifcantly for the next 6-8 years (because I Think the Sox have added so much quality talent in a very short span).
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) Cowley updates, Dye's agent hasn't heard anything but KW isn't saying anything either. http://twitter.com/cst_sox/status/1044354168 KW would have refuted it if it were false. This isn't done yet.

December 8, 200817 yr Oh and as far as Abreu goes: I'd only be interested in signing him if he's willing to accept a 2 year deal, anything longer than that would be a bad contract.
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) dude on WSI says rumor says that encarnacion is in on the deal but we may have to pay half JDs salary...take that FWIW...which is probably very little edit: fixed for accuracy Edwin was once a pretty top notch prospect. Although I see little need for him considering the Sox have two other toolsy 3rd baseman (Mr. Cuban & Fields). However, you can't argue his power numbers and his solid walk totals for a young player and he could be due for his breakout season (last year was a bit of a dissapointment but he still hit 26 bombs, albeit in a hitter friendly park).
December 8, 200817 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=5904 (Encarnacion's stats) How would we get Encarnacion AND Bailey for Dye? That's crazy. It would have to be Dye and Fields and a lot of money going to Cincy.

December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) So if this is true, do you think Bailey goes in as a lock for #4, or is he battling with Marquez, Poreda and Richard? He'd still have to perform in spring training, but going in, he'd be a favorite for the #4 spot.
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) So if this is true, do you think Bailey goes in as a lock for #4, or is he battling with Marquez, Poreda and Richard? We just traded an All-Star (and MVP) caliber OF for him. He's got to be slotted in the rotation right now, IMO.
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (SEALgep @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Isn't that guy done? I think his eye injury ended his playing days forever... You're thinking the guy from the Cardinals, this is a totally different player.
December 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (SEALgep @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:34 PM) Isn't that guy done? I think his eye injury ended his playing days forever... That was Juan, not Edwin.
