I just can't get excited about perfect games and no-hitters anymore. These last 3+ years have been ridiculous. I want steroids back in the game.

I couldn't disagree more. i love watching pitching duels and great defensive plays. Of course, I also like 13-10 football games where the defense kicks the crap out of the offense.

Somewhere, AJ is smiling at this baserunning.

Of course is comes from a catcher.

Obviously that is not the spirit of the rule, or game, but technically it is the right call if you rule by the letter. And can't fault Mesoraco either - heads up play.

It's actually not the right call, there's an entire book on interpretations of the rule, it's not black and white like what was listed. The baserunner initiated contact, you aren't rewarding it, it's an out.

Bryce Harper with 9 swings and misses out of 10 pitches against Pettite.

All sliders or curveballs. Time for him to adjust.

Ibanez and Eric Chavez two of the better bench signings of the entire offseason in a largely quiet Yankees' offseaso on the free agent market, with the exception/s of Kuroda/Pettite/Pineda.

What about D-Wise & Jayson Nix? Stellar perfect game saving D & 6/6 in SBs for Wise. Nix has a .757 OPS.

Brandon Beachy removed from the game against the Orioles in the 4th inning with an apparent elbow injury. No specifics at the moment.

****Ring, ring*** Tommy John on the phone for you Brandon

League average for strikeouts per game is on pace for a record high of 7.46 per game. If you look at a team like the Mets, who has FOUR starting pitchers who are close to 1 SO/Inn. Guys like Jason Hammel and RA Dickey, and even our boy Phil Humber who averaged closer to 0.5 SO/inn in the past are racking up strikeouts in bunches.

Just proves again we are in the golden age of pitching

Dr Andrews and Yocum are gonna be busy in the next few months. Drabek and Hutchison on the Blue Jays, Beachy for the Braves. Of course, Drabek is the only one with a known tear at the moment, but it doesnt look good for the other two.

Whoa. Any word on his velocity?

http://blogs.providencejournal.com/sports/...ajor-leagu.html

In his first two outings with the PawSox, Prior has struck out six hitters and walked one in 2 2/3 innings pitched. He's allowed two hits and has not been charged with a run. His fastball averaged 91 miles per hour and topped out at 93 in the 1 2/3 innings he pitched on Tuesday night
