Well, they tried.

Shake it off and win the next series.

Also, can't wait for Sale/Kershaw. I am going to do whatever I can to get a ticket to that one. Just got to remember to not wear my Sox stuff..

Yeah, but that absolutely means if he has a start where he doesn't have pinpoint control he's going to give up an 8 spot in the first 2 innings.

Correct. If Floyd and Humber can make it out of the first couple innings without giving it up they are golden or at least keep us in the game. If they don't have it you see it early for sure

Way past due!

Also doesn't bode well that our only 2 reliable starting pitchers will likely run out of gas in September unless their innings are reduced at some point by missing some starts.

What else do KW and RV need to see to get rid of Stewart?

It couldn't hurt to bring somebody else in. What do they owe Zach Stewart? Nothing.

Doyle, Axelrod, Bruney...take your pick. Bring somebody up. If they suck, try somebody else.

The only reason to keep stewart up is that they think he is doing a better job than those guys would. In fact, it's not unreasonable to think he could really benefit from being a AAA level starter anyway.

exactly. He's a starter with a starter's repertoire. There is zero risk in having him start in the minors and there is a good chance that you get a reward in him getting consistent work and using the nice sinker-change-curve combo to his advantage. I really like his stuff, but making the poor kid a reliever didn't make any sense unless we were in "win now" mode

Can't disagree. He's obviously not cutting it as a reliever. Send him down and make him a starter again.

Sox just don't have much of a home field advantage. If they were drawing respectable crowds, the team would feed off the crowd's energy. Unfortunately the Cell is a ghost town this season and not only does it take away home field advantage, it's gotta be disheartening for the team to see a sea of empty sections.

Boston sells out every game and is 14-19 at home. The Phillies lead baseball in attendance and have a 12-19 home record. Tampa averages under 20,000 a game and is 19-11 at home.

One positive...sweeping the Cubs a couple weeks ago.

Sox are 4-2 in interleague, and no AL team will be better than that with 12 games remaining.

But they have to go at least 7-5 the next two weeks. 11-7 in interleague would be just fine.

Thank you Humber/Stewart for taking any chance to win and pissing your pants the last month or so! 2-4 at home last 6. :chair

Sox are just not cutting it at the Cell.

We can't keep contending with this type of home record. It's eventually going to catch up with the Sox who will undoubtedly have one of those 1-9 things on the road at some point.
