August 9, 201312 yr Chicago White Sox @whitesox 3m #WhiteSox have traded OF @arios51 or cash considerations to the #Rangers in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
August 9, 201312 yr The Sox now have 5 players under contract for 2014: Danks 12.5 Dunn 14.25 Ramirez 10 Sale 3.5 Kepp 4.5 44.75
August 9, 201312 yr Trade could still be for Leury Garcia, he's on the 40 man roster. That would blow.
August 9, 201312 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:08 PM) Not sure but im guessing this is the case. No reason for us to send cash otherwise. Compared to his mega season a few years ago. He will still get a good haul, but the sox have money to spend
August 9, 201312 yr QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 07:10 PM) Compared to his mega season a few years ago. He will still get a good haul, but the sox have money to spend We had tons of money to spend regardless. No reason for a salary dump here
August 9, 201312 yr Interesting. It would appear the Sox ultimately decided the flexibility was more important. *Crossing my fingers* that the PTBNL is someone good.
August 9, 201312 yr QUOTE (chunk23 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) Trade could still be for Leury Garcia, he's on the 40 man roster. That would blow. He's seemingly a 22 year old with good speed who's been extremely young at every level with a lot of versatility. I could see that as a plausible return.
August 9, 201312 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) We had tons of money to spend regardless. No reason for a salary dump here Something that is better than 'some money' is Even More Money
August 9, 201312 yr http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/prospect-...z-leury-garcia/ Fangraphs article that talks a bit about Garcia who did play in about 25 games with the Rangers this year. He's known more for his defense and speed then his bat, but he's really been young and moved up aggressively.
August 9, 201312 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) We had tons of money to spend regardless. No reason for a salary dump here Well, now we can get a guy like Jacoby Elsbury for hopefully a similar salary to Rios. More value at a similar price.
August 9, 201312 yr The trade deadline kind of proved that he wasnt worth good prospects+salary relief. So we got the salary relief here in the post deadline deal. To me that makes perfect sense. The way we got this guy is the way he goes out. Edited August 9, 201312 yr by Jose Paniagua
August 9, 201312 yr Trade could still be for Leury Garcia, he's on the 40 man roster. That would blow. Who else is on the Rangers' 40 man roster that could be the PTBNL?
August 9, 201312 yr QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) Wow we got nothing..... For a player we gave up nothing to get. Its PTBNL, so we did get something (we just dont know yet). I really hope the PTBNL is announced on Christmas day so we Sox fans get something good baseball-wise for Christmas.

August 9, 201312 yr I now expect the White Sox to make a decent size free agent signing (or to add payroll somehow). They have now officially cleared a heck of a lot of payroll to the point that they could make one or two big signings and still be well under last years payroll.
August 9, 201312 yr QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 07:13 PM) Wow we got nothing..... If true, Hahn has turned two of our three best best players on the opening day roster into Garcia and cash. Talk about rookie abuse, lol.
