Featured Replies

My friend whose a blue jays fans loved lawrie's personality. Though I think toronto fans in general like really aggressive arrogant players as some sort of compensation measure.

Canadians loving other Canadians, what's wrong with that? :D

Not really a gamble for two reasons

1) Sox didn't give up anything of value

2) A bad year by Lawrie still makes the Sox better at 3B than they have been in a while

This is my thinking on the deal as well.

Obviously everybody likes this. I do too, for a few reasons that are not original.

1. We didn't give up that much.

2. Even a down year from Lawrie is an upgrade for the position.

3. #grinderball

4. The Royals hate Lawrie and f*** them.

The Royals already hate us anyway, why not bring in two guys from Toronto who they also hate. f*** em.

These Royals games just got a whole lot better

We easily had the worst bench clearing brawl with KC last year but Oak and Tor also had some nice ones. LAA did as well I believe.

But seriously....is there anyone here who would feel comfortable rooting for this slimeball?

Those same words were once spoken about A.J. Pierzynski.

Lawrie may not be a model citizen, but the Sox are desperate for serviceable position players, even mediocre ones. I'll take Lawrie over Saladino at 3b, thank you - especially since Lawrie is only 25 years old.

so what bad stuff did Lawrie do that I'm not supposed to like him? what did I miss?

Aside from getting into it with the Royals, I think there's some concern that he's too fiery. But everyone got into it with the Royals. I like the fire, and I hope it brings an intensity the Sox need.

OK, when he starts beating his wife and driving drunk, somebdy PM me so I can get worked up about it.

That's not enough to anger sports fans.

Dat Fire... Dat passion..

In all seriousness, he's got a lot of power in his swing.

greg is pretty much the Donald Trump of Soxtalk. He probably doesn't believe 90% of what he posts.

I am glad I am not on an island with respect to Greg being a troll. He has convinced way too many posters he is the real deal over the past couple years.

Yes he does, he can certainly hit some bombs. He's rather quick running the bases too.

I'm really looking forward to watching him on the South Side!

Man he has a bunch of walk offs, wow.

As I've said the last few days I'm not a big Lawrie fan but he's much better than anything we had and we gave up nothing so I'm definitely happy about the trade. That said, I don't expect him to make a jump or "figure it out" here, that doesn't happen with us and hitters, he is what he is.

Happened with Eaton.

Happened with Eaton.

Eh he had a below average like quarter of a season due to injury, he wasn't a 4 or 5 year underachiever like Lawrie.

This thread has almost 1,000 replies. Wow.

Worth noting though that we're still hearing "attitude issues" with Eaton even 2 years in.

Really? Do you have any links?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 12:04 PM)

That's an attitude problem?

I think that is a reach. I hope the White Sox get guys who want to play and aren't too pleased when they are sitting.

You know we could get Adam Eaton from the White Sox but he's not worth the trouble. He has a bad attitude. He isn't happy when he doesn't play.
