  1. The problem with your logic is Madrigal showing that he can play a competent SS only improves his value. Every team knows what he’s capable of at 2B. If you draft him, you play him at SS in the minors until he proves he’s incapable of playing the position or you are certain he will need to fill in at 2B in the very near term. More versatility = more value and I think it’s impossible to say he can’t be a solid defensive SS at the major league level given his tools.
  2. Agree, got to get at least one top 50 caliber prospect. A back end top 100 wouldn’t cut it for me.
  3. Exactly this. If he’s willing to agree to fair terms, I think a four year extension after this season makes a ton of sense. Something like 4/$80M would work for me. That would cover his age 32 to 35 seasons. And by 2021, hopefully Sheets or Burger is ready and able to push him to DH more often.
  4. That team above ^ could be pretty damn solid depending how Rodon & Kopech look. That’s at least a major league caliber offense with a fairly interesting pitching staff.
  5. The team could/should be a lot better after the All-Star break: 1. Moncada, 2B 2. Sanchez, 3B 3. Abreu, 1B 4. Davidson, DH 5. A. Garcia, RF 6. Jimenez, LF 7. L. Garcia, CF 8. Anderson, SS 9. Castillo, C #1: Rodon #2: Lopez #3: Kopech #4: Giolito #5: Shields/Stephens CL: Jones SU: Rondon SU: Fry MR: Soria/Vieira MR: Avalin/Bummer/Cedeno MR: Beck/Hamilton/Gomez LR: Santiago
  6. I was just giving you a hard time, but let’s never forget how bad May was last year: 42 PA, .056/.150/.056/.206, -42 wRC+, -0.7 fWAR I mean, May was so bad they cut bait after 42 plate appearances. Doesn’t change the fact that Engle is a terrible baseball player though 😁
  7. Really think they’re going with Kelenic with an underslot deal.
  8. Apologize if this was already posted: https://mobile.twitter.com/Lynn_Henning/status/997863572276502528?ref_src=twsrc^tfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.soxmachine.com%2F2018%2F05%2F20%2Fwhite-sox-mock-draft-roundup-nick-madrigal-leads-the-way%2F&tfw_creator=soxmachine&tfw_site=soxmachine Tigers have a Draft Day muddled mess: Have become wary of Casey Mize for undisclosed reasons. Don't like Joey Bart's strikeouts. And know Brady Singer has no real plus-pitch. Of course, this is the year they draft First Overall.
  9. You must not have been a fan of the White Sox very long, because I’m pretty sure there was an outfielder worse than Engel offensively on last year’s team.
  10. Why should Eloy Jimenez be at DH? I don’t get where this narrative is coming from. Maybe five to seven years from now he’ll be too big to play a solid LF, but he should be fine out there for a while. Jimenez isn’t a bad defensive player by any means. This idea we need three gold glove OFs is crazy.
  11. 100%. And come 2020 this team will have four years left of Moncada. That’s when we have to be serious about competing for championships. I just don’t get the argument for worrying more about 2025 (when Yoan may or may not be here) than 2020. Jimenez & Kopech are two of the most important pieces of the rebuild and I’d rather give them 1 1/2 years of development time before the 2020 season than just assume they’ll figure everything in just one year at the major league level.
  12. What are you basing this assessment of Anderson on exactly?
  13. In all honesty, we should listen on offers for Abreu, but man would it be hard for me to move him. The reasons are many & obvious. First & foremost, he’s one of the best hitters in baseball. Trading him instantly creates a huge need in the middle of the lineup. And no, let’s not view Jimenez as somehow being his replacement. The quickest path to contention is to add a couple impact bats in addition to Abreu. Eloy can be one of those, but swapping him for Jose doesn’t move the needle. Beyond the on-the-field stuff, dude just seems to be a tremendous leader and clubhouse presence. While it gets said repeatedly, his influence on the young LatAm guys is vitally important. And I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I think his relationship with Moncada is perhaps the one factor that could get him to consider a long-term extension before hitting free agency. Regardless, I truly think there is value in keeping Jose around as an ambassador to the team & brand. If I felt Abreu was a strong candidate for a sudden drop off in production then I might reconsider, but I don’t believe that to be the case with him. Outside of his insane rookie season, he looks as good as ever, the “wrong side of 30” be damned for all I care.
  14. Can’t trade a lefty like Fry when he’s got another six years of control. He can be a key part of our long-term bullpen.
  15. I keep saying it, but Fulmer has an option for next year.
  16. Exactly. Hell, I’d play that Rondon kid there before I’d consider Trey.
  17. What in the world are you talking about? Trey hasn’t shown much improvement this year and is nowhere close to getting a major league look. And why would you want to give him playing time at Sanchez’s expense?
  18. 1. Kelenic 2. Bart 3. Bohm 4. Mize Could it happen? Probably not, but god would that be the dream.
  19. We’ve clinched at list a series tie! It will be our first series of the year we have not lost against a non Royals team!
  20. Fulmer has another option for next year and they will most certainly not DFA Giolito prior to 2019. It will be a pretty easy choice for the front office.
