  1. Past hour
  2. Colson appeared a bit too nonchalant on the two blown double play balls I mentioned - two misplays that arguably resulted in two losses. He has to make those plays in close games or the Sox lose. That is for Venable to deal with though, not me. I'm just a bit frustrated with getting swept by Detroit and then losing this last game to KC.
  3. All due respect, I sincerely do not think this years team should in any way be compared to last seasons as if it is some measuring stick. Apples to oranges.
  4. Also didn’t help that he stood and admired his ground ball up the middle for two or three steps in the box before he got moving. 🤦🏻‍♂️😆
  5. Owners knew what they wanted to do for years. They stowed away money to get through a long lockout.
  6. I mean it's baseball. It's not like the better team just sweeps every time.
  7. Yesterday
  8. The second game where Colson dropped a routine grounder on a sure double play. 2 losses on him for the most part. Colson always swings hard, so hard that he is pulling his head (and eyes) off the ball - something Ozzie has called out before. He needs to focus his game more - on offense and defense. Play with intensity and play smart. Look ground balls into the glove. Every ground ball that can be caught has to be caught. Every swing and every at-bat is important. The Sox can't get these blown games back at the end of the season. Sorry about the rant, but I feel there was no reason to lose at home to a last place team.
  9. I mean, it’s still Jerry Reinsdorf we’re talking about here. I’ll believe it when I see it.
  10. Looked to me like he just rushed the motion and was transferring before he actually caught it.
  11. Because money spent this year coupled with who knows how much lost revenue next year is an issue, possibly for JR. And when he set the payroll number for this year over last winter, it was rumored that a lockout was a possibility, now it's almost a certainty, That could, notice I said could, change his thinking. Remember with JR the three rules are: money, money and money. I hope the Sox do something but my guess is, it won't be a game changer.
  12. Yeah, why would this year's salary matter much for next year? Doesn't make sense to me. Especially when we're talking about one year rentals.
  13. I still don’t understand your theoretical here. He already agreed to an opening day payroll based on a certain expected revenue for the season. He came to a specific number knowing a lockout next year was very likely. Nothing has really changed on that front. As such, the additional revenue from attendance being up vs. plan is house money at this point. If had more concerns about next year’s financial situation, he’d have gone even lower with his OD payroll.
  14. On that error, DJ said he fielded it flat-footed, which could also be indicative of back pain. Have they ever said why he gets back pain? Recurring nature kinda points to something structural.
  15. I think he's just a streaky hitter.
  16. Gonzalez has to beat that out. I’m a little concerned about him.

Have yourself a day Mr. Bonemer! 4-5 with a HR and 2 doubles.
  18. Just can't lose this game. They play so good then clunkers like this. KC's pitching lineup was so weak today and the Sox went so cold after the 2nd. Colston in a terrible slump, we needed him today. He's .184 for June & .147, no homers, & 1 2B since NY, all vs Central foes. Most of the few hits he's gotten lately have been jam shots & end of bat bloops and his error today was the difference. Back issues? If so, maybe he needs to sit for a few games.
  19. Rentals mean additional salary for this year and with the lockout coming JR may say "no, period" to any salary increases for this season because of the ramifications the lockout will have on next year and his operating income. I'd hope he'd allow something if the Sox are still in it but this is JR remember.
  20. The official Sox website has no update on him since May 24. They posted that Bush had a setback updated on May 24. Berroa hasn't had any updates since May 17 with his new injury. Frankly I'm not counting on any of those guys for this season.
  21. This one is on Ron
  22. Yes, next week is going to be big. Remember last year they didn't win a single game all season either in Baltimore or Cleveland. Winning at least three on the road trip would be fine by me. The question is can they do that?
  23. The BABIP luck in the Guards loss was ridiculous
  24. Winnable, but whatever. Take the series win and move along. Really need to see them win a road series or two here.
