Do you think the Sox should really be buying?
Well entering play today FG has us at 48% to make playoffs. It's basically tied with the highest mark of the year. We were slightly higher on June 29th. I'd say that's more than enough to make some additions. Not like sell the farm type additions but a bullpen arm or two and a back end starter would help get those odds closer to 60%.

Official 2026 MLB Draft Thread - Picks & Discussion
On Cole Prosek from James Fegan: “To the extent that any player has an idea of what to expect in the draft, Mississippi high schooler Cole Prosek wasn't expecting to join the White Sox. The 19-year-old infielder had a meeting with Sox brass at the MLB Combine in Arizona that he thought went well, but before he became the 41st overall pick, Prosek felt the Padres, Rockies and Brewers were showing the most interest. Then the White Sox pulled a move that rendered it all moot. "After the ninth pick, they called my agent and offered me the amount of money," said Prosek, who signed for $3.25 million. "Then my agent upped my number for every other pick, from 40 up to 20. He upped my number, nobody wanted to pay over it. So, fell down to the White Sox, and here I am, which I'm very glad to be here in this organization. So, I'd say it was a little surprise."

While Sox / Mets had rumored Peralta framework
Girardi made a great point on the broadcast Wednesday: there isn't a single SP on the WS roster with post season experience. I'm not like a huge experience matters guy but it doesn't hurt and adding a SP with post season and pennant chase experience might not be an awful idea.

Because of our ability to take walks, even if we slump we will still be able to drive in runs. It's much more sustainable then 2020

And that's another Walk off special White Sox winner!
In 2000 me and my best friend did a canoe trip on the boundary waters, and we got there 2 weeks after a straight line windstorm just decimated the area. There were spots on our trip that looked like a giant with a weedwhacker stood there and whacked every tree you could lay your eyes on. They tell you a straight line wind storm is basically a tornado spread out over a large distance, and I believe it

Been on the IL twice this year and I think he just left another start early last week I want to say?

If I was the sox I think the attraction is that Peralta is very likely better than you've seen so far, but also that he's only 30 and been pretty reliably at 175 IP per year and in the playoffs. For a team with some guys who will be managed here on out, you don't want the chance that a Ray starts to fade (not saying he isn't a workhorse, but he's 35 and it can happen).

The Threequel GameThread: White Sox @ Rays 6:10 CDT Fedde vs Martinez
Rough assignment but (as Ozzie likes to say) the formula for this team against premier starters is to wear them out, keep the game close, and then go to work. I mentioned a few days ago that part of what ails Colson and Tristan is their tendency to be too aggressive at the plate. Hopefully, they both learned something from their last at-bats in yesterdays game. Relax and wait for something you can hit, or just take a few pitches. In any case, both of them have to start dialing it in. Let's go men.

for those that don't want to give away anything and are ok not getting much back - why isn't there more intrigue around Mize? For me - I notice that he's 6'3, 212, which is close to the magic 6'4 220lb. How much could he possibly go for when they aren't even letting you see the rehab start to ensure he's not losing 2-3 more starts left in the year. And he's a rental. That's gotta be pennies.

Since we are apparently willing to take on money for like the first time ever, I'd rather just get Ray from SFG and Torrens from NYM. I think the BP is in ok shape especially with the possibility of Schultz/Smith etc being moved there.

I think the foodie accounts are running with their own embellishments, at this point...

I drive to SC once or twice a year. Hurricane Florence wiped out I-40 in NC. They're building it back, but it's awesome (in a scary way) to see how nature just scours civilization off the map. Driving through KY last year, forest every where, then broken tree stumps for a mile after a huge tornado passed through. We're just ants on a log, floating in the middle of a lake.

We have hope, we got The Pope!
A lot of White Sox fans would prefer a retractable domed stadium. Makes the most sense for fans and for business. I like both the Rogers Centre and T-Moble park. Great templates to work off of. Yes, the "Old Roman" Charles Comiskey would love to see a retractable dome built in Armor Park. Preserve tradition and expand on it. Win win.

I was about to type exactly the same thing. Wolkow, I'm fine moving but with our catching issue right now, no to Boston Smith.

Charles Comiskey was "The Old Roman" after all.

Smith's production is incredible, but there's a lot of question marks under the hood. Serious swing and miss and he's getting by with a lot of passivity. He's not very big for a guy who is supposed to be a masher and he might be years away from having a defensive position (and the position might be LF). He's a fun prospect and you have to love this partial season of production but the same thing that is tantalizing (that he's done so much in so little time) is also part of the risk (there's no track record). In principle, I don't love risking much on a rental pitcher, of course. Wolkow is going to have near-zero trade value. I like him and he's so young, but I think most front offices don't have much faith that a guy can spin his wheels for that long and become anything.

Or they would have to include Torrens. But yeah, I would prefer not to trade Smith.

That’s the Wed/Thurs asking price, by Sunday it will be cheaper when no one else is meeting that asking price. Wolkow as the main piece doesn’t bother me, but Boston Smith as the 2nd is too much. Wolkow, Albertus, and lotto ticket arm

While Sox / Mets had rumored Peralta framework
If my scouts like Peralta, I’d do Wolkow+ but that second prospect would have to be less than Smith.

Especially if what you're after is projected performance and not what he's already done.
